The reception/office was the first indication of the shabbiness of this hotel. The room I was assigned reminded me of a motel. The carpets looked gross, I kept my slippers on at all times. The curtains are not of hotel standard. Because of its sheerness, I woke up at 5.30am due to the sunlight. The bathroom counter was so high,... more

Thank you to all the staff at the gem for a fantastic week . Julia the manager and her staff were ever helpful and special thanks to kez for making the most amazing cocktails. If you are looking for four star accommodation this is definitely not the place for you. Accommodation is basic but clean and the staff clean the... more

Prior to booking we naturally read the hotel reviews, which totally confused us. Some guests apparently left after a couple of days, others loved it.Well I am pleased to say, we loved it! If you are looking for elegant guestrooms or loads of on-site facilities, the Gem is not for you. But if you seek a laid back, peaceful retreat... more

So what's in a name? Quite a lot, and a bit more besides, if this little bolt hole tucked away in Morne Rouge is anything to go by. An unpretentious two star self catering or all inclusive establishment, the Gem sits in splendid isolation at the northern end of Morne Rouge Bay, a peaceful backwater but only a short hill... more

This hotel seems to polarise opinion so I will try to highlight both plus and minus points. LOCATION: The Gem is at Morne Rouge beach, at the end of a hilly dead end road from Grand Anse. The hotel stands behind the associated bar/restaurant and a nightclub, and the hotel rooms front the car park. Although it is the only... more

I think that anyone who complains about the Gem is really snotty. Are you expecting super exclusive all inclusive standards at the price they are offering? Or are you wanting the opportunity to cater for yourself, in a large apartment right on a lovely bay, and get to to know the area through hiring a car or walking to a... more

Apartments very spacious, well equipped although some of the equipment could do with maintenance/repair. Staff very helpful and friendly, normally tried to rectify any complaints promptly. Kitchen units cheap and poorly maintained, but other furniture of an acceptable standard with beds ( stayed in No. 4 and 16 ) excellent. Maid service good. Sur La Mer Restaurant's atmosphere is lacking,... more

After reading many reviews on places to stay in Grenada we chose the Gem knowing there would be some issues. When any review says "I cried when I got there" that is a heads up. The location is lovely, nice beach, calm water. Whenever the cruise ships come in they have a day trip here but it never gets overbearing.... more

The Gem is not the most elegant hotel on the planet but it is on what must be one of the best beaches, and the management and staff also qualify as among the best. The rooms are not super fashionable, but they have everything you need and you are practically on the beach. Even in one of the front apartments... more

My sister and I stayed at the Gem Beach resort for 9 days. It was absolutely fantastic. The hotel is on Morne Rouge Bay, and on a cul-de-sac. It is extremely quiet and beautiful. We had an oceanview apartment and birds were coming on the terrace to have breakfast with us. The staff is incredible. Extremely friendly(like evryone in Grenada)... more
