Reviewer86 has got it spot on but has forgotten to mention how good the restaurant is with the chef creating a menu that you would expect at the larger hotels. When reading some of the negative reviews I can only conclude that the authors should have paid top dollar and followed the herd to Grand Anse. more

This was my fourth stay at the Gem, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The distance from shopping can be a pain, but I enjoy the exercise. Besides, someone from the hoel may be going over the hill and will give you a ride. Failing that, there's taxi service. Mourne Rouge Bay is the best beach, protected and with gentle... more

From the personal and personable attention, the prompt help from maintance, and the exemplary job that the housekeeping staff did, the service was superb. We could not have gotten a better location, a nicer beach, more expansive quarters, or a better view! more

i reached Grenada in the night and was tired from my flight.....when i reached the hotel i sensed that my stay was not gonna be how i thought it was. I opened the door to the room and a musty smell hit me immediately...the room was clean but the furniture was in desperate need of updating...and by the way the... more

The owner and her assistant are gems! They were very helpful and accommodating; extremely friendly which I loved. The place itself was a disappointment and I can't imagine returning or recommending anyone stay there. The room I stayed in was musty; the bedding was a huge disappointment--I don't even think what I slept on qualified as a mattress at all... more

I had read the reviews of this hotel and thought it would be okay as we are not really into amenities and were staying a week so wanted somewhere where we could do a little cooking of our own when we wanted. The furniture could use updating, but that was the least of our problems. Having never been to Grenada,... more

I stayed at the Gem for two weeks at the beginning of June 08. I had read previous reviews, so didn't actually have any preconcieved ideas about the Gem. The accommodation was functional, basic and cleaned daily, the furnishings could benefit from being updated, as quite old. I had a garden view apartment, which was spoiled by the rusting old... more

If you are looking for a very cheap accomodation wihtout any frills this is it for you. However I would highly recommend, that you pay the extra for something a liitle nicer. Gem is situated on Morne Rouge Bay. It's away from the main road and a car is a must if you want to get about. Car rentals cost... more

The reception/office was the first indication of the shabbiness of this hotel. The room I was assigned reminded me of a motel. The carpets looked gross, I kept my slippers on at all times. The curtains are not of hotel standard. Because of its sheerness, I woke up at 5.30am due to the sunlight. The bathroom counter was so high,... more

Thank you to all the staff at the gem for a fantastic week . Julia the manager and her staff were ever helpful and special thanks to kez for making the most amazing cocktails. If you are looking for four star accommodation this is definitely not the place for you. Accommodation is basic but clean and the staff clean the... more
