Great hotel with a lot of charm, good food, attentive service and fabulous views that could be better with a few adjustments. Suggestions for management: 1. If the main lobby building is not going to be air conditioned, fans should be added everywhere to circulate air and alleviate humidity trapped indoors. 2. Wifi area expanded into the bar would be... Pros: Nice beach Cons: 1. The lobby and the bar areas are open ("no windows"), so its very hot. 2. The buffet food was very "bleak", unless oily sausages, eggs and fried bacon is your idea of a good meal. 3. You have to rent the safe. And you still get a 20 years old piece of junk without any... We have just come back from an unbelievable 14 night stay at GBP Cayacoa ( me 23 and boyfriend 24 from then Uk) and it was amazing. Yes the transfer from puerto plata is a long 3 hours but it is worth the journey when you arrive at the hotel to say that upgrading to a sea view room is... More

this hotel was pretty lovely. very nice rooms and good views, pool area is quite small, and beach is ok, sand area is great, but sea isnt that nice. food was disappointing, same food every lunch time and dinner time, mainly pasta and chips all the time. the entertainment was very good and they do work hard to make sure... Firstly I have to say this review is for the resort and hotel. This is not a review for the A La Carte restaurants as I found them to be 2 of my most disappointing restaurant experiences of my life so bad that in one we just chose to walk out.....and they were free. Stick to the main restaurant. Now... More

Day one checked into room 315...great view of hill side and maintenance shacks...we are on an island with beautiful scenery everywhere but we got stuck with room with NO VIEW...Not a great start. For another $120 US we got a much nicer room. Every thing here is either up a hill or down a hill, ok when its dry but... More

We visited this extraordinary resort in 2007 and were bowled over. We've been to some nice places but the Principe is without a doubt one of our favourite destinations. Although it took 90 minutes by bus to get there on rutted, winding roads, it was worth it. To say it looks palatial is not exaggerating... marble floors, big windows throughout,... More

Visited here for two weeks in November 2012... The natural beauty cannot be denied.... The setting is stunning! The hotel is well placed for a film set like pirates of the arrive an. There was a mix up from day one with rooms, the staff were friendly and helpful but for the money I was disappointed with the room quality.... More

We found this trip a horrible was of time and money, the food was very low quality, each night they served us the same food, in fact it was the same food during lunch and dinner. Their "A la carte" dinning was a joke, they served the same food with the same poor quality at the main buffet style, their... More
