Very good service and assistance. Our waiter quickly saw us struggling with mobile devices to call the car rental and immediately made the call for us. We had yummy drinks of different varieties and a nice appetizer while waiting. Our fan belt had broken while leaving for Sosua, and we accidentally limped into this wonderful little treat! Lodging and a... More

The owner is an American Italian of unbelievable rudeness to his staff as well as clients. Whatever you may think of this very noisy place, my strongest memory is that I feel sorry for anybody working with this man. I told him that he was in the wrong business. Stay away so that he must sell the place. Everybody will... More

The place is owned by an awesome lady named Carmen from New York in the states, and she is so nice that she made me feel like this place was 'home' while I was here! She was so helpful with everything since I have limited Spanish, and there food at the Restaurant on site was totally great which made meals... More

I recently returned from a stay at the Portofino Hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by the greatly improved restaurant. The variety and superiority of their menu was outdone by the meal. The portions were great and the sea bass just melted in my mouth. I think that they are one of, if not the best restaurant in Puerto Plata. The... More

Just came back from 10 days at Portofino. (24/12-02/01). Hotel under new management. Although they say they always have water, it was off for pump repairs on and off throughout our 10 days there. Appreciated the hot water showers!! Very clean rooms. Bed was double size only. Not the most comfortable. Mattresses need updating. Property is very clean and safe.... More

The Portofino was a simple, cheap place to stay in Puerto Plata. It has a fun Italian theme to it and nice rooms. It was really clean, had air conditioning and wi-fi available at most times. It is incredibly close to the Malecon, the beach walk in Puerta Plata, as well as the highway to catch a gua gua to... More

The Porto Fino is small, only 18 rooms, but only 2 blocks from the beach. Rooms are neat and clean, all with attached bath, mostly twin-double beds, but some with only 1 double bed. Found a new definition however for "no hot water." Usually this means that the water from the hot tap runs cold. In this hotel, when most... More
