I was staying in Puerto Plata for the week, but was interested in birding in the area of the Tubagua Plantation. I contacted Tim expressing that I didn't want to stay over night, but only wanted to trek around the area. He suggested I arrange a birding guide and stay for lunch afterwards. This was the highlight of my stay... More

My nine-year old son and I stayed for 4 nights and had an amazing experience. The view of the ocean and mountains are breathtaking and the place is really well maintained. We loved having breakfast and dinner with other families and chatting with Tim, the owner. He is very friendly, funny and helped us planning our stay, the daily excursions... More

We wanted to stay up in the mountains as we were celebrating my son's 12th birthday. I thought it would be a cool overnighter as we did the North Coast. We arrived later in the day after completing the 27 Waterfalls. We were exhausted and ready to relax. After a humorous drive up the mountains in a tiny stick shift... More

First of all, this is a lovely place in the perfect setting of mtns near Puerto Plata. The eating area overlooks farms, woods, old sugar plantations and eventually the sea. The place is a bit rustic...shared bathrooms, sinks in a bucket (maybe they could use something a bit more authentic and eco here), tarps for window curtains/glass and all wooden... More

This review sums up by saying that a $40- $50 (per person) price tag ends up doubling to $100-$120. This is misleading; only accurate if you jump from "per person" to "per couple". When understood this way, it becomes clear Tubagua is not a spending trap. Far from it, many often-hidden charges are included in our posted rates: • Many... More

We have stayed 3 nights in Tubagua Eco Village right before New Year with 2 adults and a 7-year old. To be honest, I was a bit worried that it would be too basic, having to share one hot water shower and bathrooms with the other guests and no locks on our room door... but my worries turned out to... We visited Tubagua for new years eve and stayed for seven days. It's a beautiful place. The views everywhere on the lodge are breath taking. I especially enjoyed seeing at least 4 rainbows over the view from the dining area. It is kind of like camping, but what we call "glamping" or "glamour camping" and we enjoyed it for the... More

Incredibly well hidden spot. Great people & ice cold Presidente! Good food. Unique accommodation. Spectacular views of the Atlantic. Well worth the short drive, 5-7 km from the main highway. 5 star people!

My wife and I stay for 14 days at this in all perspective nice place. We have choose this place because of the location, the positive reviews and because we really need a place of relaxation. 14 days seems a long time, but we could easily have used 14 days more. The food was exellent, the lady of the lodge... More

My husband an I stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every min of our stay. Everything was amazing from the palapa we stayed in, the open air shower, food, tours, and the people working there. I just wish there was a web cam to see the view any day I want. We both agree the eco lodge was much better... More

As this is not a seaside location I was little worried what we gona do there in the mountains, but in the end I would say that this stay was the most rewarding and relaxing in Dominican republic (we were traveling around and changed 6 locations in 3 weeks). The big pluses are great view toward the ocean, staff is... More
