A perfect haven in Santo Domingo after visiting the chaotic & colourful Carnaval celebrations. We arrived off the bus early and Victor gave us a cheerful welcome and looked after our valuables at reception so we could relax amongst the crowds. When we returned to check-in we appreciated the cool, calm breezy reception area and common spaces so often lacking... More

This small hotel has about six rooms in a remodeled nineteenthth? century building. It is very quiet and in a good location on the edge of the 'Zona Colonial', with breakfast included, friendly staff, ac & fan

The staff are lovely, helpful and smiling. The room was clean and nicely laid out, The location is excellent, quiet enough but right next to the sights in the Colonial Zone. The roof top area is a lovely place to relax, a little faded but the views over the port, and of the domino players in the tiny park at... More

It's rare that I travel internationally, as I am not a big flyer. For the 1st anniversary of my 29th birthday (...heheh...), I decided to take a trip with my beau to D.R. I researched quite a few hotels, but something about Hotel Portes 9 looked quaint and adorable. I booked it, and I ended up very pleased with my... More

I liked the fact that each room is different. Very welcoming, I love the bathrooms have bidets . We were allowed to check out at 1:00 pm even though they do not have late check out . Breakfast is very good and varied (fruit , eggs, toast , muffins , cereal ) . It has a beautiful park and the... More

I picked this place on TripAdvisor because it was the only hotel specifically listed as entirely non-smoking. And it looked cute. Made a reservation six weeks in advance. Confirmed by phone call. In Spanish. Confirmed again by email, just prior to departure. Arrived and after greeting us, the guy said "let me take you next door." Since the hotel consists... More

Super nice staff. We arrived very early one morning and our room was not ready, so they fed us breakfast and secured our luggage for us while we went and site seeing. When we came back, they gave us the great room on the 3rd floor that had a great view. Now the hotel can be a pain to find... More

This was a great hotel located just two blocks from the first cathedral in the Americas. It was quiet, and the rooms were very clean and have a quaint, colonial feel. The air conditioning was awesome! I really enjoyed the free breakfast and the people working there are very friendly. I will definitely go back!
