Wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I greatly enjoyed my stay there. The staff help all guests get to know each other. The security of the place is a great, great plus. The front door is locked at all times, and the staff only allows in people they know belong there. They take the security and well-being of the... more

The hotel has had a name change (Foreigners Club Hotel). I have to give the hotel, staff and location a thumbs up! First, the hotel... yes the Dominican Republic is a third world country and anyone visiting should remember this. The hotel is small but I decided on one of the larger rooms so overall size was not an issue.... more

We arranged to stay at this place for a few days, thank goodness there was another decent hotel nearby! We were instantly disapointed when we arrived. The pictures online have been doctored to make this dilapidated place look like a magestic mansion in Santa Domingo. Easy check in, which was nice, until we started walking to our tiny room. Floors,... more

I had the pleasure of staying at the Casa New Yorker in Santo Domingo on December 23, 2007 until January 5, 2008. The hotel is NOT the Marriott. It is a locally run, small hotel with only 9 rooms. Every morning the guests, management and owner got together over complimentary coffee and and continental breakfast and discussed what to do... more

Lynn has taken over management of the Casa New Yorker from Scotch. It is still gay owned and operated. Straight people are welcome too. It is 2 blocks from the ocean and 2 blocks from the Colonial Zone. There is no charge for local guests. ID is left at the front desk. The hotel will arrange airport pick up for... more

My friend and I were new to Santo Domingo and were a little worried about where to stay. The Casa New Yorker turned out to be a great choice, From the moment we arrived at the airport and were greeted by our hotel escort, we new we had made the right choice. The staff goes out of their way to... more

Great pictures on the website that do not accurately portray the rather sordid reality make for a bit of a let down. There is a gritty funkiness about the place. The bedrooms are tiny (we rented two of them). There is noise--mechanical from the building itself and street noise. The breakfast was cold cereal, some bread, coffee and orange juice... more

I recently stayed at the Casa New Yorker in the colonial zone of Santo \domingo after deciding that I no longer wanted to stay where I had stayed for 9 years. I was definitely not disappointed. What a great place for gay people to stay. It is like being at home, with your family and friends. The owner, Scotch, and... more
