My friend and I stayed here 7/18/14. I opened a tripadvisor account just to give this place a good review! The rooms are beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The lobby looks like a museum. The rooms are comfortable and the wifi works well. I highly recommend it and will come back myself!

The best boutique hotel in the Zona Colonial that I have found. The staff is very helpful and most speak english, The rooms were very well appointed and sparkling clean. The location is perfect for touring the Zona or just sighting seeing in the square next door. I would recomend a stay here to anyone, be it with friends or... More

El Beaterio is a lovely, intimate yet modern refurbished place to stay in the centre of Santo Domingo. The building with it's history as an old nunnery is beautiful, but it has been converted into a hotel in the most tasteful and lovely way, with a sociable entrance with historical artifacts, window seats where you could imagine nuns for hundreds... For my second trip to Santo Domingo, I was looking for a nice, reasonably priced hotel in the Zona Colonial. We were traveling as a group of five and needed three rooms. We found what we were seeking at El Beaterio. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the place has character. It's convenient... More

I was looking for afordable hotel to spend few days before my flight on Monday and, luckily enough, my friend who was previously here some 10 days ago recomended El Beaterio. I had no reservation, and that was no problem, they found me room in no time, but it was only available for two nights. Hotel is amazing, photos others... More

This is one of the nicer, small, boutique hotels I have visited in Santo Domingo. Personal, friendly and English speaking staff. Attentive to details. Rooms are a bit small but pleasantly decorated, vintage and historic in nature. Nice tile work in the baths and rooms. A great little quiet courtyard with rooms surrounding it. Very convenient to walking the El... More

I enjoyed our stay but the wifi does not work well. The people that worked there were very nice but spoke with broken english, maybe I need to work on my Spanish better. I would could a taxi service by phone because the taxi outside are a rip off.

In the 1500's, they didn't have air conditioning, plush bedding, and fast WiFi. But these are among the modern comforts you'll find at El Beaterio, a charming guesthouse set around a lush courtyard in a restored colonial era mansion in the trendy Zona Colonial. The room is appointed with charming bathrooms with nice fixtures and tilework, a TV, nice tall... More

I spent pleasurable nights at El Beaterio in March. I was given the room nearest reception which did mean a few slight noise issues but one advantage was not having to lug my heavy suitcases up the stairs. My room (as do all the rooms) opened out onto a charming indoor courtyard. The room itself was medium size, very clean... More

Good location and reasonably priced. Clean and wellrun. Breakfast simple but good. Wifi works well, though not fast. Staff very friendly, but with a few exceptions a language barrier towards english. One general gripe that I have with Santo Domingo hotels is their support for the taxi racket of the city where tourists are considered free for the picking and... More
