This hotel was just what we needed for our visit to this beautiful and sometimes hectic city, and the staff made sure our stay was enjoyable. Quiet and cozy, yet elegant; the decor added to an atmosphere of tranquility---much appreciated after a day of sight-seeing and shopping; it felt like a stay at the home of friends. As stated elsewhere,... more

I was going to try not to copy all the other wonderful reviews....but I have no choice, they are all true! Susanne and Carina were indeed wonderful. I feel they go above and beyond the call of duty. Bernie (?) was most helpful in steering me in the right direction to places to stay in the peninsula up north. Their... more

I don't know where to being. First the hotel has a modern art-deco feel. The owners - Bernie and Susanne make you feel as though you are guess in their home not as clients in their hotel. Breakfast every morning was delightful and the staff: Pedro-Julio and Patricia were very attentive and warm. Karina, a friendly addition to the staff,... more

All the reviews are true. This is a really nice small hotel run by European ex-pats in the Zona Colonial. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed, great common spaces, wi-fi for free, excellent morning breakfast with fresh bread, tropical fruit, cheeses and meat, and strong Dominican coffee. Excellent value. A number of us on the JetBlue All-You-Can-Jet pass have stopped... more

I had spent 2 nights at hotels on the Malecon - the Hilton & Renaissance Jaragua - and was disappointed by how far I was from everything. Negotiating with the cab drivers was futile because they knew you had no choice but to pay. So I decided to stay at the Atarazana after reading the reviews and immediately understood what... more

Before arriving to Santo Domingo, the hotel owner, Susanne, wrote me several emails to check on my dates, flight status and to arrange a taxi to retrieve me when I arrived. Jesus, the nicest guy ever, greeted me when I walked out of customs (he is the hotels taxi driver, but also runs a private taxi service which was also... more

I found this hotel in trip advisor and comments were very good. I took the decisition to book it and I couldnt have taken a better decisition. A remodeled old house of Santo Domingo it has a perfect taste transmitting a relaxed, elegant, tropical atmosphere. It is also located at a strategic part of colonial city, just behind Plaza España,... more

We spent 4 nights at this lovely, well located hotel. It is more like a B&B, intimate and cosy. Susanne was the perfect hostess, and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a great selection of fresh tropical fruit , juice, coffee and eggs, served in the cheerful courtyard. Our room faced the courtyard and was very quiet.... more

Again we used Tripadvisor as a guide to choose our hotel and again it was exactly as described! This little jewel in the middle of the colonial zone was perfect. The owner and staff were fantastik. Clean, clean, clean. The ambiance was a combination of modern and tropical. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. Walking distance from a great little... more
