The stay was for 4 nights and the air conditioning broke down on the day we arrived, but they told us the night before we were leaving. We changed room 5 times. Many people who arrived after us, went to other places that they offered them. They told us the night before we check out that all the hotel was... More

We end off at this friendly and updated hotel which include WiFi, cable and functioning A/C, (after a bad experience at the hotel we check-in before). Nice, affordable and delicios food at their restaurant... Great location in TheColonial Zone!

i've been traveling annually to the Dominican Republic (DR) since 2001. It's my home away from home. I initally stayed at the Mercure and then tried about 5 other hotels; two in Boca Chica, a beach about 20 miles away, including an all inclusive resort. But, my favorite stay has been at the Mercure and I keep returning. It is... More

Hotel is as it always is, a basic 3 star hotel. WiFi HORRIBLE, does not work in the room only in the lobby and bad. Breakfast improved a bit but coffee as usual for hotel coffee with breakfast bad. Supermarket 50 yards away has closed, this is not convenient. There is construction nearby on the street and the area has... More

Spent one night in this hotel, thankfully it was not longer. Room smelled damp, air conditioner was noisy and so was the all night party outside of the hotel. Could not sleep. Beware not all rooms are non smoking. I do not smoke and the room stank of old cigarette. They say this place was refurbished in 2000. It badly... More

Make yourself comfortable being a piggy bank at almost any request, or venture in this oh-so-dangerous city of wonders. Seriously just go out, say no gracias, walk by foot or guagua (public bus-converted SUVs) and don't think of bringing invitees (20 US$ fee). Great location and awesome room service though (make sure to tip a bit and they will treat... More

We stayed here with Road Scholar. The location was very convenient but our room was small and the air conditioner was noisy. However, without it on, the outside noise on the weekend was loud for much of the night. Towels seemed to be in short supply, and we often had to wait for the laundry to be done to get... More

The staff is very kind and service-minded. The location is great as it is close to everything, restaurants, bars, attractions etc. Unfortunately, the room we had on 5th floor was VERY small and there was a very strong smell of mold, so strong that we felt we could not breath and also there was no steady water in the shower.... I stayed seven nights at this hotel as part of a Road Scholar trip. My room on the second floor was quiet, clean, had plenty of towels and amenities, and it was air conditioned. Internet worked well in that room, and the Wi-Fi was free. The room was on a smoking floor but I smelled no smoke in my room,... More
