It is an older hotel, but well kept. Room was plenty big. I think more attention is given to executive floors, but it was still good. Staff, service and food was great. I really liked the location and it was quiet and tucked away from the busy streets. Would definitely stay again. more

Wow, for me the best business hotel in the Dr is this one. Normally my company sends me to the Jaragua, which I hate. but because of an overbooking, they sent me to the Occidental El Embajador. I spent two nights in El Embajador in Santo Domingo...I felt the hotel was old (53 years) but the service and the restaurants make my trip worth while...it's very elegant and has and old-school charm to it, also the casino is very nice and the people move seamesly in the background creating a great overall experience. more

I stayed for a night on 3/28 at this hotel and it was terrible. The place is OLD!!! I booked with Expedia and paid for a superior room with breakfast included. I got a room on the 4th floor which was supposed to be non-smoking but smelled of smoke. I called the front-desk to complain about the smell of smoke... more
