We stayed three nights at this wonderful and romantic colonial hotel, once known as a Sofitel hotel, but now also part of the French Accor chain and has a discretionary logo designation as MGallery, "M" for memorable. In fact, it's a memorable experience. The building and its courtyard have a charming and romantic feel to it, stone columns and Spanish... More

What can I say about this beautiful little hotel? For lovers of history, this is the place to go. When staying in the beautiful historical Colonial Zone of St. Domingo, Hotel Frances is perfect in keeping with the theme and ambience of your vacation. The staff was absolutely lovely and helpful as can be. The room was huge! We stayed... More

I stayed at this hotel from 03/08/2015 to 03/11/2015. This is a quaint 19 room boutique hotel with old world charm. The Spanish Courtyard is sure to wow the unsuspecting traveler. Trying to get to the hotel was a nightmare as the adjoining streets were under construction and the front entry to the hotel was torn up. It was like... More

Good location in the heart of the Colonial area. The hotel is set around a lovely shaded courtyard with orchids growing on the trees and parrots and humming birds visiting them. The rooms are large and airy with high ceilings and highly polished floors and woodwork. The a/c is quiet. All the staff are well trained, pleasant and as helpful... More

I stayed at this hotel from Feb1-8/15 and was surprised at the amount of old world charm this place had! Not only was the place beautiful, it was clean, inexpensive (relative to North America) and centrally located. I will say that there wasn't a time (and I walked out at night) that I didn't feel safe. If their were to... More

Let me start by praising our bartenders and the mojitos. The weekday bartender makes his own mojito mix and they are unbelievable. Location is excellent. You can walk everywhere or you can take a taxi if you wish (cab fare is pricey- my family took a trip to the beach ~25 min drive and it was $120). The hotel room... More

I stayed at this hotel during a trip to Santo Domingo. The location is excellent, just a few blocks from Santo Domingo's main attractions. In terms of service it was okay, nothing bad but nothing amazing either. The rooms are fine, but they need to be updated as they are slightly old fashion. Also, I have Accor Platinum status but... Santo Domingo is crazy to drive in. Streets are not marked well, they end & go one way suddenly, people drive crazy, police will pull you over for no reason (because you are a tourist) but what made coming to Zona Colonial, in Santo Domingo was this resort. Car parking is across from the entrance and secured 24/7. Doors open... More

We've stayed at the Hotel Frances 4 times in 5 years and have been amazed by how consistently great our experience has been. The hotel is gorgeous with it's thick walls and exposed brick, and the courtyard is a beautiful refuge when you're tired from walking around the city. We always find the rooms to be clean and the beds... More

This is a beautiful hotel located in the colonial district of Santo Domingo. It is very clean, reasonably priced and has a warm and inviting colonial architecture. There is a private security guard that screens all those who enter for additional safety (the trend in the city although there doesn't really seem a need but nontheless you will feel very... More
