This is an old hotel and I like old hotels. I stayed there for two days recovering from jetlag. I particularly liked the communal areas, although my room was very comfortable too. I found the service rather formal. Good location for sightseeing.

The hotel is in zona colonial, is safe, I was in room 103 and it was fantastic. The staff is great, thanks to Carlos, Gilberto, the ladies in the front desk and the rest of the staff. We will return and recommend this hotel to our friends and relatives.

I spend a wonderfull week in this lovely boutique hotel. I really apreciate having my breakfast in the quite flower and beautiful colonial architecture patio, The staff was warm, very friendly and always ready to help. The hotel has a great location in the colonial zone.

Great service, room was very nice and clean my only complain here is that the air conditioner was not working so good, restaurant is expensive ($16 breakfast buffet) but you can cross the street and find there a more economic place to eat, location of the hotel is great, very close from every thing in the colonial zone but watch... I'm traveling with my girlfriend around Cuba, Dominican Rep and Turks and Caicos. This restaurant was the worst ever! Only manager speaking english, not knowing what wine recommend to our dishes. Tuna tatar was frozen, then defrosted in the microwave giving too much water and half baked/waved tuna meat (bleeee). Main dishes (lobster and grilled fish) were lower than restaurants... More

The hotel has a beautiful colonial architecture and is in a great location. Unfortunatly that's about the only excellent thing it has the rooms even though they are nicely decorated and bathroom are ok. The air in our room wasn't cooling enough, the bed was too noisy (horrible). The bar piña coladas $310.00 pesos each which was outrageous. And breakfast... More

I stayed here for one night and I did not have any hot water, they were also late checking me in to the hotel. We booked our room through a site on the computer and they had hidden fees that we had to pay extra. It was clean but for the price I could of chosen another hotel. The area might... More

After 11 pm weekend is impossible to rest due to a lot of noise in the street. In front of the hotel is located a disco bar open after 11 pm to 3am with a noise electronic music. Is a boutique hotel but weekend north sites rooms are impossible. I was at room 206, during those holidays it was impossible... More

If you looking for colonial charm on a budget, this is it. The Hotel Frances is located in the old section of the city just 2 blocks from the Cathedral. We found the restaurant with its courtyard to be very romantic with candles on each table. The service and food was very good but the staff is a little short... More
