This waterfront hotel is well located with a nice view of Malecón. Internet connection is fast and stable, perfect for large online meetings or calls. One of my colleagues complained that the restaurant offered just a few dishes, but my opinion is that the food is delicious (e.g.: the "Currasco", juicy imported beefsteak). Rooms are comfortable enough, with good beds... more

My husband and I and my daughter went to Santo Domingo. My husband, son and daughter in law had previously stayed at the Jaragua and also a hotel in Juan Dolio (Coral Costa Caribe) and we had a marvellous time. We decided to change to the hotel next door because we had heard good things about, and we were delighted.... more

We stayed one night at this hotel due to a canceled flight. The room was adequate and the location seemed fine but the buffet is a nightmare. We're not picky eaters but we couldn't eat anything there. The headwaiter had a sertious attitude problem - he was extremely rude and very condesending although I can't imagine why. Working in that... more

I stayed there for 2 months and I was so glad when we changed hotels to the Hilton Santo Domingo. The rooms were often dirty. The hotel could use a remake, it is worn. Please be careful of the food. It made me sick a number of times. There are times that the rooms are noisy. The best thing about... more

The D.R.flags decorated the Malecon for Independence Day on Friday. It was a very festive scene of floats, light aeroplanes doing acrobats in the sky followed by fireworks. We stayed at the Melia Hotel Santo Domingo D.R. for 7 nights. The flags were taken down and replaced with cut outs of colored birds for the Parade of the best Carnival... more

Frustrating and a bit surreal describes my recent experience when I stayed at the Melia Santo Domingo. Having booked a room for two persons for 5 nights on Expedia I checked in alone, as my traveling companion had not yet arrived. Later that same day when my companion arrived the staff at the Melia would not allow the check-in to... more

My wife and I have stayed here on 5 separate trips to Santo Domingo while visiting family in the capital. Rooms are always clean, staff is friendly, and we have been upgraded 4/5 trips to the suites on the end of the building overlooking the pool area. It is close to everything, and walking distance to movie theater, the Jaragua... more

An excellent hotel- well worth it's 4 stars. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great swimming pool over the lobby has wide views over the Caribbean. Only minor fault was a dud battery in the safe which staff sorted out within 15 minutes. more

Outstanding, friendly and helpful service! From the check-in all the way until check-out, we were continually imressed by a high level of courteous staff. Rooms very comfortable - although TV not the greatest. Biggest impression by far was the warm and friendly way we were treated by all of the staff. Have experienced this level only a few times in... more

This hotel is excellent. It is in a good area right across from the beach. The lobby is beautiful and the floors are clean. If your Spanish skills are not very well they have a well trained staff and I would say 90% of the staff speaks good English and are willing to help you no matter what. You have... more
