I struggle with how to rate this hotel, because it really depends on how you look at it - and what you want or expect in a hotel. In the end, I rated it above average because it is a clean, well-constructed property in an area where not many such places exist - BUT many of the complaints from other... more

I have stayed at the Villa Iguana in Bayahibe on a number of occasions over the last year and a half. Depending on my needs at the time, I’ve chosen various accommodation from the selection offered. Starting with the basic, I have stayed in a room on the main floor with private bathroom, hot water (which isn’t standard in all... more

We stayed at Villa Iguana for 2 nights in July. The town of Bayahibe was very quaint with friendly people and plenty of places to eat. Our room at the Villa Iguana was clean, and it had everything we needed. It had a functioning air conditioner, a small TV, a small fridge, a couch, a bathroom with hot water, and... more

After reading other reviews about the terrible management at Villa Iguana, I still booked a room, so I suppose I am at fault. When I made my reservation, the owner (the woman) told me she could put an extra bed in the living room of the 1 BR apartment to accomodate a family of three. When the sweet girl who... more

Bayahibe is growing so come before it is "too" discovered. If you like all inclusive then go do that and leave this villiage alone. This is one of the few places left for the independent traveler. We really loved this lil town and the people we met there. Except the roosters.. We really enjoyed our stay and the snorkeling tours... more

We stayed at this hotel in July 2006. My husband, my 4-year old and I had a great vacation here; Martina was very nice and accomodating. We didn't have any problems at all. We reserved the penthouse and an extra room with A/C on the second floor more than six months in advance and maintained constant communication with the owners... more

Live among the locals in the fishermen village of Bayahibe, yet live in a very clean and very well taken care of house in the middle of the village. Right by a couple of dive centers and boat trip providers. This is for the "non all-inclusive" kind of tourist, who wants to have the real experience without missing out on... more

We made reservations to stay at Villa Iguana three months in advance. Upon arriving, we were told that only one of the two AC rooms we had reserved were available because the other one had been given to another guest who had decided last minute to stay longer. The rooms were also tiny and poorly ventilated. Then, when we decided... more

There are two Germans who run Villa Iguana. Martina, the woman, was very nice however the man was very rude. The most amazing aspect of staying there concerns what one has to do to receive toleit paper. They dole out one roll at the time and one is forced to go upstairs to the owners apartment and ask for each... more

I visited DR between Jan 7th - Jan 11th, 2006 with my wife. Our main purpose of the trip was for scuba diving. At first we were looking into all-inclusives (AI) but while looking for a dive shop we came across a link for Villa Iguana (VI). Prior to booking our trip I tried searching for any information on VI.... more
