Papillote Wilderness Retreat is a wonderful relaxing place to stay nestled in the lush rainforest about 15 minute drive from downtown Roseau. This hotel is listed in "A 1000 Places to See Before You Die" for good reason. We visited in the middle of May and stayed in the Honeymoon Suite with the hot tub right outside the door. The price was affordable. The gardens are a national treasure of Dominica. more

Great place to stay in true rainforest setting. Fantastic gardens to wander through or just sit and watch the wildlife (many humming birds). Before you even leave home, understand that Dominica really is an unspoiled wilderness. Leave behind your notions of upscale accommodations, sophisticated service, a hassle free airport, a shopping Mecca and any sense of urgency about anything.
