We have stayed in the newly built Octagon Wing. The room was tastefully decorated, the view at the garden and beach was great. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. The beach in Avila is one of the nicest we have seen and very quiet. If I went back to Curacao I would stay there again.

Arrived after a 10 hours flight on the airport the way to the hotel did not looked good a lot of old building and the roads are not the best. Arrived in the hotel the lobby looked old, this is getting renovated as we speak. Once we arrived in the room(octagon wing )I was surprised a very nice room. The... More

So we had booked the Avila to stay in the new modern wing. We had requested a king bed in a room with a view. We got the view but didn’t get the king bed. Nothing like twins beds for a romantic trip. After fighting with the front desk for over an hour we got moved to another room for... More

With reference to the Traveler Review posted by Luckych4rms from New York, the management of the Avila Hotel takes issue with the distorted and incorrect statements made by this guest in this forum. First of all, the safety and comfort of our guests is our number one priority. The use of frosted safety glass (only in some of our new... More

We recently stayed at the Avila Beach for 7 days and had a wonderful experience there. We had a room in the Blues wing--our back balcony looked over the ocean towards Willemstad, and the front door opened up to a beach view. Our room was very nice and the one problem we had with a sticky lock was fixed immediately.... More

I usually don't write about my travel adventures, but this time I feel inspired to share my experience at the Avila Beach Hotel. I was faced with writers block and since I had heard through the travel grapevine that my favorite author John Le Carre had written part of "The Nightmanager" at this particular hotel, I decided to try my... We arrived at the Avila late at night and the airline had lost our luggage, which was not a fun way to start our honeymoon! But the frontdesk staff was so friendly and understood our disappointment, so not only did they give us a small bag with all sorts of amenities such as tootpaste, shaving cream etc, they also gave... This hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in. We stayed in one of the newest rooms, which had very cool design but was very awkwardly designed as well and while I was assured it was the largest room they had, it was the smallest one we experienced during our stay in the Antilles and felt rather cramped. The... More

In March 2007, we stayed in a so-called “Classic/Mansion House” room in the main section of the Avila Beach Hotel. We had requested a non-smoking room and were assured that (exact quote): “Since none of our rooms have carpeting, it greatly reduces the effect of lingering smoke. But our housekeeping does a great job in cleaning and deodorizing rooms in... More

I stayed 7 nights with my wife and we have been to many other islands in the Caribbean...we really enjoyed our stay on the island and the hotel was nice. We like to venture out and see the island so we rented a car and went somewhere each day. If you want to stay at a resort and not go... More

No shampoo in the room, even after askinig, begging the recption two days straight. Left the room at 07.30 came back at 05.00 pm they just started to clean the room. Shower was like a drip,... More
