We booked in from Feb 16-26th 2015. My travel friend and I booked this resort to be a home base while in Cuba and it was perfect for what we wanted. We actually only spent 5 days there as we spent the other nights in Remedios, Elguea and Havana. We read that this was a budget hotel and it is... More

Third time here, service was hit and miss as usual food was okay We arrived very late and the room they gave us had a leaky toilet, there was a inch of water on the floor, I asked to be moved and she said the hotel was fully booked, I demanded to be moved as I was not staying in... More

Filthy hotel, yes it's cheap but not cheerful. Bedrooms were dirty, furniture dilapidated. Bath has limited enamel left, generally the stuff of nightmares. If I must think of a positive.. It's only a short walk to the sea.

After sifting through many reviews on TripAdvisor to try and find a reasonable hotel in Varadero, we decided to choose Acuazul. We were a little bit worried after seeing some nasty reviews about the place so decided to book with low expectations as we expected to not be in the hotel that much and instead be on the beach. After... More

Stayed at the Hotel Acuazul from Feb 9 2015 until Feb. 19 2015. Although it is an older Hotel is was very clean and as mentioned from previous reviews is in need of some updating for sure. However itis a place where after a couple of days it does grow on you. The staff for the most part were friendly... More

Great value hotel downtown Varadero. 1 short block to beach, and the hotels beach club with lounge-chairs and drinks at your wish. Food in hotel is not great but not bad, - always something good to eat. Hotel is safe and clean. rooms are large ( leaking sink in washroom) Was full of Canadians and Russians and a few other... Beware -- though we booked Acuazul-Varazul upon arrival we were told we had to stay in Varazul, a decrepit building next to Acuazul. Varazul is part of the resort. It is a crack shack. No door handles (a nail and a deadbolt only), no toilet seats, no shower curtains, living room drapes in shreds, broken toilet, no water in the... More

OK, this was my 16th trip to Cuba, my 4th to Varadero. This is an old hotel and it is nearing the end of it's life. For the money paid, it's a deal, but don't expect a lot. It's about on a par for a Cuban 3 star. The staff are great, & the lobby area very nicely presented. Generally a... More
