Had no choice but to stay at this hotel during a tour of Cuba. It felt you had not only stepped back in time, but changed countries - goodbye Cuba, hello Russia. The rooms were clean but basic with noisy air-con, a broken shower rail and dodgy shower. The bed had to be one of the most uncomfortable I've ever... More

I have enjoyed this hotel over many years, so thought I would try it again this year. It has suffered many setbacks which is obvious, however with the current management and Customer Training specialist I do believe it will be that quaint wonderful hotel once again. The Staff are the key to this hotel and many have been there for... More

I was visiting Santiago de Cuba and stayed in the hotel for two nights and it was a good experience. It is an Isla Azul Hotel mainly for Cuban travelers. The rooms are organized in chalet blocks of four and they are surrounding by nice grounds. They are spacious, and have TV, and old and noisy A/C that could be... More

Sprawling hotel with some rooms in chalet blocks and other around the pool (avoid if you want peace). Rooms ok but basic with noisy a/c. Breakfast Ok. Watch out for bar staff bill con tricks including saying they gave you too much change and demanding money back.

Visiting with a Cuban family including a young infant, we occupied two rooms, 3 and 4, in the lodges buit in the grounds of the original building, The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a working colour TV and air conditioning, Staff were friendly throughout, and the pool was an added bonus. The breakfast was included in the very reasonable... More

Stayed two nights on a group tour. No mention in the 7th Edition LP Guide so didn't know what to expect, Imposing up hill driveway to a big slightly delapidated building, then off to the left to a modern reception. OK accommodation on the upper floor of a two storey block. Breakfast across in the old building in an enormous... More

In the past, this place was my favorite haunt in Santiago, due to the relaxed atmosphere and the decent sized pool, with good poolside service and minimal negative distractions, the cadeca on site, etc. if you don't mind taking a cab to get here. However on a recent trip (December 2013 - January 2014) I could not get near this... More

This place takes a bit of getting used to however its greatest advantage is that it can function as quiet oasis, having a lot of amenities, within a short taxi ride from the hub of Parque Ferreiro /the Media Santiago/ Hotel Las Americas, yet without all the sleaze of the latter. A lot of people apparently do not even know... More

Although I got what I expected, I found this place to be a tad bizarre. LIKED - The location is in a quiet setting and walkable to the Melia/Las Americas area. (15 minutes) The Santiago zoo is located right beside the hotel and an interesting little excursion for 1 peso. Some of the rooms are located very close to the... More

I marvel at the way people rate hotels is Cuba, which is basically on some -conceived in the USA- formula. I stayed at Hotel San Juan for all of April in 2006, and will return this spring. The room was adequate, and well attended daily by a very nice room attendant/ maid. The included breakfast was again good, with variety... More
