Visiting with a Cuban family including a young infant, we occupied two rooms, 3 and 4, in the lodges buit in the grounds of the original building, The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a working colour TV and air conditioning, Staff were friendly throughout, and the pool was an added bonus. The breakfast was included in the very reasonable... More

Stayed two nights on a group tour. No mention in the 7th Edition LP Guide so didn't know what to expect, Imposing up hill driveway to a big slightly delapidated building, then off to the left to a modern reception. OK accommodation on the upper floor of a two storey block. Breakfast across in the old building in an enormous... More

In the past, this place was my favorite haunt in Santiago, due to the relaxed atmosphere and the decent sized pool, with good poolside service and minimal negative distractions, the cadeca on site, etc. if you don't mind taking a cab to get here. However on a recent trip (December 2013 - January 2014) I could not get near this... More

This place takes a bit of getting used to however its greatest advantage is that it can function as quiet oasis, having a lot of amenities, within a short taxi ride from the hub of Parque Ferreiro /the Media Santiago/ Hotel Las Americas, yet without all the sleaze of the latter. A lot of people apparently do not even know... More

Although I got what I expected, I found this place to be a tad bizarre. LIKED - The location is in a quiet setting and walkable to the Melia/Las Americas area. (15 minutes) The Santiago zoo is located right beside the hotel and an interesting little excursion for 1 peso. Some of the rooms are located very close to the... More

I marvel at the way people rate hotels is Cuba, which is basically on some -conceived in the USA- formula. I stayed at Hotel San Juan for all of April in 2006, and will return this spring. The room was adequate, and well attended daily by a very nice room attendant/ maid. The included breakfast was again good, with variety... More

Stayed at Hotel san Juan for 5 nights in Jan. 2007. The setting is like a tropical forest and the hotel is laid out in several units with about 6 rooms each. The rooms are spacious and fairly clean, but they feel tired and washed out. The lobby is pretty, but the quality of the rooms do not match. I... More

Our family enjoyed a stay at the San Juan in April. The staff was solicitious, warm and welcoming. They especially doted on our 7-year-old daughter. We appreciated both the children's and adult's pool, where we cooled off during the torrid mid-day hours. Our room was cool and refreshing. The grounds are nicely landscaped in creeping groundcover, flowering bushes, with shady,... More

Stayed there in December, 2003 - pleasant and cool by the pool and through the "woods" to our quiet second-floor room with balcony overlooking a verdant little ravine - I just remember liking this place, especially compared to the noise and traffic and people everywhere of downtown Santiago. Also stayed at the Horizontes Las Americas a few days later and... More
