We stayed at the Melia for three nights as part of our two week trip to Cuba. The hotel is about 4km from the centre of Santiago de cuba but its facilities are great. Room: We stayed on the eight floor and had a great view of the city. The room was quite large with air conditioning. There is also... more

Known to the Cubans as their favorite construction, but known to the Brits as the 'monstrosity', The biggest problem for me was I get claustophobic in lifts and there are no stairs to any of the bedrooms, so had to agree with managment to have the fire door left open for me, (The red staircase at the sides of the... more

This hotel is great. The rooms had all the amenities you could wish for. The buffet at breakfast was fantastic. We enjoyed the Happy Hour at both the Piano Bar and the Pool Bar. The view of the city from the Piano Bar is amazing. The pool area is clean, lots of sunbeds with towels and parasols available. The bar... more

An oasis in Santiago. This hotel has one of the most beautiful pool areas in Santiago. It became a favourite 'chill out zone' for a group of us (dance fanatics) staying in Santiago. For 10CUC's per day as a non resident you could spend all day at this glorious pool oasis, lapping up the sun, swimming, snoozing, having lunch and... more

We booked this hotel rather than staying in central Santiago....thank goodness. So we could have a morning exploring Santiago, and then crash out beside the pool in the late afternoon....in peace....Santiago is a little hectic! A good 4 star by European standards - clean, everything worked, good pool area. We only ate there once and that was fairly good. Happy... more

This hotel was just completing a total refurbishment to an extremely high standard. All the rooms were decorated to a high standard. Disco no longer on top floor! the pools were beautiful and every lounger by the pool was brand new - wicker type with luxurious cushions. Staff very friendly and helpful and food to a high standard. Can't say... more

Quite a nice stay. Facilities are various (swimming pool, bars, disco...) and very clean. The architecture itself is very special : you like it or you hate it. Rooms were OK, just avoid those on the top under the disco as you can hear people moving chairs and tables until very late at night. The food was good and you... more

This is a nice hotel although the standard rooms are more 3 than 4 star. We had an upgrade for our first two nights here and the superior rooms were good - with whirlpool baths. As mentioned in guidebooks of the city the water can run dark brown - especially in the mornings however leave it run and it goes... more

This hotel is very smart and is situated just outside the town centre. The walk into the centre is not too arduous and I was upset to read that someone people felt hassled. I never experienced this and walked twice a day as I was at language school in the centre. I did occasionally get a taxi to go out... more
