My wife and I visited Club Bucanero in February 2009. We spent most of our time at the pool, as the beach wasn't great. There was a nice bar that allowed you to enjoy a drink while looking down at the beach though. The food was typical, their food handling left a bit to be desired. A lot of locals... More

Even though it is now closed (probably forever) this place deserves a review. I went here with family for the first time in 1999, and went back an additional 7 times, sometimes for 1 week, and sometimes for 2 weeks. I have been to many resorts in cuba and other islands, and this remains my all time favourite. The strange... More

I visited Club Bucanero one day after hurrican Sandy struck. The whole site has been battered by the sea and the wind. The first building at the entrance collapsed collapsed partly. There is nothing left from the gardens and greenery. To my opinion the damage is that high that it's irreparably.

Gran Caribe Club Bucanero provides an enriched experience unlike any other. Regardless of preferences in food, housing, and location, Bucanero is easily described as a visually stunning resort. From the entrance, to the beach, it is hard not to admire the beautiful nature that surrounds the resort. Bucanero is a smaller, more isolated resort, making less crowded and potentially quieter.... Went on a last minute trip here with some friends, in low season, the resort was quiet. Don't think I would have liked this place in high season with the place full. Had low expectations as the price was so cheap that nobody could be making any money on the deal. The hotel is very basic, typical Cuba. The food... More

Club Bucanero is located just inside the south western end of the Baconao Park nature preserve on the south eastern shore of Cuba. It is very close to the city of Santiago de Cuba as well as many interesting attractions in Baconao such as Gran Piedra, the old car museum, the aquarium and the dinosaur park. It is also within... 11th trip to Cuba - 2nd time at the Buc - It is offseason so it wasn't that busy, maybe 50 guests. This is a Cuban 3 star so don't expect 4 or 5 star service that you previously had in Varadero. There were a few people expecting that and were disappointed. If you want 5 star pay for it!!... More

We went to Bucanero in March 2012. It was absolutely fantastic. If you're expecting a 5 star resort with gold-plated toilet seats and white sand beaches, Bucanero is not for you. If you love nature, amazing views and being nestled in a cliff (literally) then you will have a blast! The snorkelling is fantastic. And the beach, though small, was... More

The place is Clean and safe. Food is bland and mediocre. Staff are friendly. It is about 30 minutes from Santiago City. Mostly an older crowd and not much of a nightlife. Beach is small and rocky but great for snorkeling and for catamaran rides. If you want a great night out go to the Club at Melia Santiago on... More

We stayed at Club Bucanero for week in March. It was our second time there. All staff is very friendly. Scenery is beautiful, and snorkeling right from the beach is fantastic. Take some bread from breakfast for fish. Water shoes is a must. Entering the water can be very challenging, especially when is windy. Food is ok for Cuba, not... More
