When my wife wife and I first thought of travelling to Santiago de Cuba, the idea of booking a nice place to stay lead us straight to the Lonely Planet Guide where we found Hostal Las Terrazas or Hostal Martin y Gisel as the number one option amongst other seemingly nice accommodations. A journalist and experienced traveller myself, I got... More

What a difference you notice when the person running a hospitality business in Cuba is able to apply the work ethic of high-standard tourism, yet preserving the Cuban warmth that we all seek when we visit the tropical island. Welcome to the new generation of Cuban business owners, as the Hostal has just been taken over by the Pérez family,... More

Being a solo travel is easier to make an adventurous call and just stay in a place you never heard much about before... I found the place to be conveniently located near the old town which for me was great since I enjoy taking looooong walks and can't be bothered by taking any sort of public transportation. The first impression... More

We had one of the best holidays and this was mostly due to our choice of Santiago de Cuba and our accommodation. I felt a genuine desire to help us and make us feel like home, especially, as we travelled with our little son (1 year old). The management and staff couldnt have done any more to ensure we had... We had our reservations about Santiago de Cuba, but this place turn them totally around! We hadn't booked a room, but fortunately they had a cancellation, but I would advise booking in advance. We arrived and the Host was gracious, warm, charming, funny and welcoming (despite it being late). He is clearly passionate about his casa, and wants to constantly... More

Las Terrazas is a great place to stay while in Santiago de Cuba. My family and I stayed here for some nights at the beginning and end of our time in Cuba. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. The host is lovely, kind and friendly, and it's very safe. Roy (the owner) was just incredibly and friendly and great... More

Great cozy and quiet place in the middle of Santiago. Feels like a small boutique hotel, with spacious rooms and the great roof terrace. The owner (Roy) and his staff make you feel very welcome. Oh and the food is delicious. Ask for the vegetable soup, one of my favourites!

Having read previous reviews I decided to stay here. The hotel has just been taken over by the Perez Family and I was greeted by the new and proud owner Roy Perez. What a welcome. They could not have made me feel more welcome and straight away I felt at ease. The owner Roy has perfect English and a great... More

The special feature of this hostal (not a casa particular) is the roof-top terrace, which gives good views towards the Harbour and is cool, verdant and spacious. The room was large (would sleep 3 comfortably) and the bathroom was good. Although the entry/reception appeared to be a living-room, there was little sense of a family welcome; this is without doubt... More
