What an unfortunate booking. The staff were trying to be helpful, they were empathetic. When I arrived the lift was out and there was no water at the hotel. I had travelled by bus from Havana, 14 hours. Hot, sticky and in need of a shower. I was given 5 litres of water and told that possibly the water would... More

This wonderful hotel is right in the centre of this beautiful city We were hear during the famous carnival which was lovely. The hotel has large rooms with basic amenities. The fridge is a lifeline. We had views over the square which was fine. Watch out for the bands and orchestra who play there in the mornings The food is... More

This Hotel is the worst place to stay in Santiago de Cuba. The noise is incredible!!! If you ever want to sleep, pass your way. They don't even deserve one of their stars. And all the crooks in front will sip your money in no time. All this arranged with the hotel. Go anywhere else!

I'm not sure if I'm spoilt by previous travel both inside and outside of the UK, however I found the staff here seemed to be begrudged to serve or help. We arrived at 5 and the member of staff informed our guide (in Spanish, I'm assuming she was hoping that we wouldn't understand) that our room wouldn't be ready until... More

We arrived at 24.7. in the evening to Santiago and found out that our German agency had mistakenly booked only one room. Since we do not speak Spanish and calls from our mobile are extremely expensive, we were very glad that a young employee of the hotel Casa Granda attended to our problem. Because of the 500-year anniversary and the... More

I took a nice suite overlooking Parque Cespedes, and I too paid an excessive amount. The furnishings were great, and the air conditioning blew at a tepid level all night long. At dinner on the front patio I ordered and received a drink, then waited 17 minutes for the server to look my way again. I asked "Do people eat... More

My sister and I visited Santiago de Cuba in july 2015 and stayed for 2 nights in Hotel Casa Granda. If you are planning to have a short stay in Santiago de Cuba I would recommend this hotel. It's in the middle of the city center, so you are in walking distance of most of the monuments and must-see places... More

Nice hotel. Large roof terras with nice view over the city. Comfortable room (except that it was difficult to open the window) and bathroom. Restaurant on the terras downstairs was very good, especially the sandwiches and hamburgers. Coctails on the roof terrace were expensive and not very well prepaired.

Nice location but very poor service. A glass was smashed and a lot of glass shards went into my hand and no one in the hotel came to help out or clear the glass away. On a second occasion one of the staff knocked over my glass and bottle of water and then charged me for it. When I complained... More

Stayed a week in Santiago de Cuba in Hotel Casa Granda with was the best places in travelling one month through Cuba. Book through internet and you will get an double room XXL bed for around CHF 50 (walk in rate is double price or more). The rooms have good standard and are clean. The stuff is very friendly and...
