The hotel is nice, specially the bar at the top with fantastic views of Plaza Cespedes, but they are carrying on the 500 years celebrations and there were singing and shows all night long, we did slept because we were exausted, but take this in account before booking. It is very very noisy.

Much about the Casa Granda is indeed classic -- the old building itself, the views over Parque Cespedes, the location. But some travelers have reported bad service from the staff, and I share that view 100%. After I checked out, a security guy came running after me, accusing me of stealing a towel from the room. Nice try but I... More

Spent one balmy night in May. Central location. Fantastic views from the terrace bar. Had a glorious sunset with mojitos. Loads of music in the square in front of the hotel. Walking distance from most sights. Staff and service can be indifferent as many large groups stop here.

We had an excellent room on the forth floor overlooking the square. Good facilities and everything worked. Breakfast was unexciting but plenty of it and good choice. The roof top bar has great views although you do pay a CUC per drink extra for the privilege. We used the front bar overlooking the square which had good service and atmosphere.... More

We stayed in room #405. Pros: high ceilings, a California king, hot water, working ac, the panoramic 360 view from the 5th floor rooftop & according to my travel buddy "Law"- the rooftop cafe has the best mojitos in Santiago de Cuba! The omelette chef Emilio Donation & Idalyis (housekeeping) were the most pleasant staff persons with outstanding customer service.... More

This hotel is situated in the town square and boasts a 360 degree view from the rooftop patio ( where you van enjoy food and drinks as well ). The food is quite good, but the accommodations, although clean, are pretty much bare-bone. A very large bar adjacent to the lobby overlooks the square which is a never ending parade... More

Had a great experience at the hotel. The rooms were great and the hotel has that historical feel. The view from the room of the plaza is great in the mornings with musicians there almost everyday. Service was excellent as well. Only bad thing that I could say about the hotel is the way beggars and taxi drivers hang out... More

I have stayed at the hotel Casa Granda twice in the last year each time for week and both times it smelled like sewage, badly. The second time we did not have water two days, like water to shower with. Need I say more.

The building is just beautiful. The lobby coffee shop has excellent food but somewhat slow service. The serve cartons of ice cream which are wonderful. The front desk staff are incredibly accommodating. The rooftop bar is excellent and provides superb views of the plaza, cathedral and sunsets.

Perhaps the best choice in Santiago de Cuba if you prefer old charm, central location and music. If you need a swimming pool and wifi, maybe Melia is better your choice.
