After reading such great things about Casa Colonial Maruchi in the Lonelyplanet guidebook and having stayed at other wonderful casa particulares in Cuba I was excited to stay here for a couple of nights. I’m not sure if the reason our stay was so unpleasant was because Maruchi wasn’t there and her daughter was running the house, or maybe the... More

This place is recommended by the Lonely Planet (edition Oct. 2014), but really don't bother going here for diner (I'm explicitly not judging on the place as a casa, just a paladar)! The setting is lovely in a wonderful patio rich in vegetation as part of a great colonials house, including strolling turtles and begging cats (can't blame them when... More

I read good review on lonely planet, then decided to stay in Casa Maruchi. However, the only good thing was food. The owner was not so friendly. Most of all, they are NOT trustworthy. I mean they do overbook. I had stayed two night in Casa Maruchi and went to Baracoa. Before I left the casa I made a reservation... More

Having read the excellent reviews I particularly wanted to stay at Casa Maruchi therefore I booked it by email in February for July. I followed this up by getting Cubacasa to confirm the booking in March. I received emails from both the Casa Maruchi and Cubacasa confirming my booking for 3 nights in July. I phoned before leaving Baracoa only... More

We loved this house. Santiago is a very noisy, polluted city and this house, despite being in the heart of town, was a very peaceful place. Our room was spacious, and we had a huge bathroom: both were spotless. The house is overall very beautiful and nicely decorated. The garden is lovely. Maruchi has two cats, a parrot, a dog... More

We stayed at Casa Colonial Maruchi for 2 weeks and then, upon return to Santiago a few weeks later and with an injury, there was no doubt of where were going to stay for another week. Casa Maruchi is a total experience, unique and nurturing. The old casa is like a living museum of Santaria, the owner is a world... More

We got lost on the way here as all the streets have had their names changed recently and none of the locals know the new names. However, when we finally got to the casa we were made to feel very welcome even through it was very late at night. The owner then cooked us a very tasty fish dinner as... More

After realising that I didn't write a review for this casa I thought I should change this. Even it was a year ago I still have positive memories about the place. I stayed there for 2 nights, and I had a very enjoyable stay. The Casa is very central (5 or 10 minutes away from the centre...you literally leave the... More

We had booked for 3 nights and our booking was confirmed by @mail. The evening for arriving we called the casa and then the owner informed us that he had no room.

The first morning after a night of mojitos we woke up whit the sankteria. That day started the Festival del Caribe and Maruchi had a special event at her place. It is a great place to stay. Maruchi, her family and staff are very warm, helpfull and welcome. Santiago is a busy city and most of the time this is... More
