This hotel is situated in a side street within easy walking distance of most the sites of Santiago. It has a delightful exterior and only 8 rooms. I had room 5 for a couple of nights and was quite impressed by the reception area and the size of the room with nice high ceilings and a large bed. Room had... More

Our group of ten was booked into San Basilio, but only eight were able to stay (some confusion with bookings). It is a charming boutique hotel, with just eight rooms, all on the ground floor. We had already had experience of hotels in other parts of Cuba, and this was our favourite. Note that there are steep stairs up to... More

We stayed 3 nights in this very centrally located boutique hotel only 8 rooms, mostbof them without outdoor windows, so the rooms were a bit dark. High ceilings and huge bathroom with good water pressure. Very friendly staff, good breakfast. Great traditional cheap restaurant in the same street, called 1900. A great find! Parking at the Hotel Casa Grande, very... More

first impression when entering room 8 and sitching on the light was a 10 centimeter big "kakelake". no water pressure! we had to "dance" between the few drops poring out. loud noise of all the a/c machines behind the walls and music from the artex- muicbar in the neighbourhood till late i the night. a really bad experience! only reason... I must admit that I did not enjoy Santiago de Cuba as a city, so San Basilio was a great respite. The location is great, being only a few minutes walk from the city's two main squares, pay phones and currency exchange. The staff are lovely and do their best to help with anything you need. They also multi-task with... More

We stayed for 2 nights at the San Basilio hotel in Santiago de Cuba. It was our best hotel experience in Cuba - we have to say that overall service quality level in Cuba is really poor, yet the San Basilio was the exception. From arrival on, you notice the very cosy interior, small reception desk, personal service and just... More

I stayed in this hotel for two nights. I found rooms very comfortable and clean with good set up. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Another good thing: manager Mirelis was very helpful with all matter plus she spoke perfect English which is very rare. Overall rating very good. I recommend this place.

This is a nice little hotel just in the city centre close to the main attractions, just a short walk to the Cespedes square and the Cathedral. The Museum of Rum is few meters away. Nice place to visit and by good rum. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Mirelis provided us lots of valuable information.

Santiago is overall rather a poor city. This applies to the general condition but not the attitude of the people. The hotel, apparently originally a private medical clinic is, as to its exterior in "eclectic" style (and in very good condition) while the interior is Moorish, possibly original the building. Between each of the main bedrooms is a beautiful open... More

Adorable "hotel de charme" in exquisite mauresque style, patio covered with azuleijos, filled with tropical plants, located in center of santiago, quiet, clean, perfectly kept, with a staff extremely kind and helpful. Ask them the moon, they will get it for you..... The best place to be in Santiago.
