In the centre of town, on a pedestrianised street, this is an old hotel built on Spanish lines wth an interior courtyard. Our room on the fourth floor looked inward with no outside window, not large but adequate and with a decent sized bedroom. No bath towels, no basin plug and no hot water were not impressive. We over came... More

We are very pleased with you, because of your comments. It is very important for us to know the experiences of the clients in the hotel because in that way we can know in wich direction we have to move. Only we would like to clarify that all our bedrooms has basin plugs and that we normaly give more than... More

The hotel foyer was amazing and you could spend ages looking at the walls and doing photos+++. The rooms were small but comfortable, the shower was good but no safe. We only had two small towels and no floor mat for the shower. The air con was noisy as well. The good thing about the hotel was that you were... More

The advantages of this hotel are it's location (on a pedestrian mall) and the gorgeous views from the elegant dining room on the top floor. The disadvantage is the noise level. The hotel partially wraps around a pool area that doubles as the entertainment stage in the evenings. Cuban music is loud, lively and fun......unless you are trying to sleep!... More

Thanks a lot for commenting about our hotel. We know that sometimes our very nice location, in the center of the city, and also our architectural structure, cause us some troubles reffering to the noise that disturb some clients. Because of that we are daily checking this aspect , and if we just receive some call from one of the... More

This hotel is an historic hotel located in a very convenient area. My room was very small compared to all the other Cuban hotels I stayed in. The room got all the noise from the pool-side 'talent show', but thankfully the show ended at about 9PM. The air conditioner was prehistoric and made an awful noise all night. Unfortunately, it... Grandeur of a bygone era, reasonably well maintained. A very atmospheric hotel in a central location. Nice room with period furniture, beds were comfortable. Good-sized bathroom with modern 'rain' shower that actually had a proper jet of hot water. Pleasant dining room where buffet for breakfast and dinner offered enough to choose from. Good starting point for visiting the city.

The Gran is not a fancy hotel but is very comfortable. Located in downtown Camaguey there is plenty to do close by. The restaurant situated on the fifth floor has great views of the city. There is a lobby bar but the best place to enjoy a drink is at the rooftop bar. It gives you a panoramic view of... More

My stay at this hotel was included in an educational/cultural tour for Americans to Cuba. But this is the type of hotel I prefer to stay at compared to the flashier chain hotels owned by foreign interests. The Gran Hotel is in the center of Camaguey's shopping district and features an Art Deco type lobby with warm, dark wood that... More

The Gran Hotel in Camaguëy is nearly 100 years old, but it has been modernized over time. Many famous people, including Ernst Hemingway and Tom Mix, have stayed here. The hotel is located in the center of the city along a pedestrian walk that is a pleasant place for a stroll in the evening. My room, located on the third... More

Small, centrally located hotel with very helpful front desk staff. Beautiful interior first floor patio. Clean rooms with working air-conditioning. Second floor swimming pool with a salsa themed water ballet show in the evening.......I felt like I was enjoying some 1940's evening entertainment!! I continue to smile when I think about the oddity of watching synchronized swimming while drinking mojitos... More

The Gran is not the Cuban version of the Holiday Inn; it is a classic, old-school hotel built in the 30's. Could it use some freshening? Sure, but it has other charms: a lovely roof-top bar with a great view of the city, an attractive restaurant buffet with wonderful breezes from the big open windows, a great staff who couldn't...
