Driving around Cuba my wife and I stopped of in Camaguay, a dump of a town compared to many in Cuba, Sancti Spiritus for example, which is making an effort to clean itself up. We stayed at the Gran Hotel as it was highly recommended as the best in Camaguay. Sullen recaption staff, couldn't car less bar staff and waitresses.... More

Stayed with a group at Gran Hotel in Camaguey. Room on the 3rd floor was clean and the buffet meals were average. Cigar store in hotel was helpful. Hotel is located in the center of town. The rooms are dark because of the shutters over the windows.. As a rule of thumb reducing the star rating of the hotel at... More

We stayed for two nights at the Gran Hotel as part of our tour to Cuba. It is an old building with a beautiful interior and some great old furniture. Our room was very basic and small (the bathroom door bumped into the sink) with two twin beds. But it had great air-conditioning and a nice hot shower so we... More

This was a nice hotel with basic accommodations, a place to sleep and clean up. At first the beds did not look very comfortable, but I slept pretty well on them. Good hot water and pressure for the shower. Better that the previous hotel we stayed in. The pool area was a little small, but the second night there was... More

Stayed here for 2 nights on out Cuba trip with Globus. Old hotel. Very quaint. Great location. I like old hotels, and this one was in Cuba, so didn't expect a Marriott. Was pleased with the room. Very clean. A/C not very good, though. Hotel staff pleasant enough. Huge breakfast buffett. But as with most government owned hotels and restaurants,... More

This is a government owned hotel. Not well maintained paint on window pains, pealing ceilings, limited hot water, etc. Food is only fair and the restaurant staff are neither friendly or helpful. Do not stay here unless there is no better place to stay in Camuguey

This hotel is located on a walking street. It is in a good location for walking and seeing the area and it has a great rooftop bar and viewing area. The rooms, however, are very small and the bathrooms do not have a counter for placing toiletries. The air conditioning worked but was very noisy. They had only one key... More

Small rooms with sometimes malfunctioning door locks. Poor room views but great rooftop view. Friendly staff. Interesting nightly entertainment. Good location for walks around the town. Swimming pool crowded with local folks. Breakfast buffet and dinner just average. Probably the best in town, however. Lovely town--don't let the hotel situation discourage you.

In the centre of town, on a pedestrianised street, this is an old hotel built on Spanish lines wth an interior courtyard. Our room on the fourth floor looked inward with no outside window, not large but adequate and with a decent sized bedroom. No bath towels, no basin plug and no hot water were not impressive. We over came... More

The hotel foyer was amazing and you could spend ages looking at the walls and doing photos+++. The rooms were small but comfortable, the shower was good but no safe. We only had two small towels and no floor mat for the shower. The air con was noisy as well. The good thing about the hotel was that you were... More
