The Gran Hotel in Camaguëy is nearly 100 years old, but it has been modernized over time. Many famous people, including Ernst Hemingway and Tom Mix, have stayed here. The hotel is located in the center of the city along a pedestrian walk that is a pleasant place for a stroll in the evening. My room, located on the third... More

Small, centrally located hotel with very helpful front desk staff. Beautiful interior first floor patio. Clean rooms with working air-conditioning. Second floor swimming pool with a salsa themed water ballet show in the evening.......I felt like I was enjoying some 1940's evening entertainment!! I continue to smile when I think about the oddity of watching synchronized swimming while drinking mojitos... More

The Gran is not the Cuban version of the Holiday Inn; it is a classic, old-school hotel built in the 30's. Could it use some freshening? Sure, but it has other charms: a lovely roof-top bar with a great view of the city, an attractive restaurant buffet with wonderful breezes from the big open windows, a great staff who couldn't... We stayed a night at the Gran Hotel in Camaguey. The hotel is centrally located in a pedestrian area and getting there + parking your car isn't easy. I'd recommend anyone driving around with a rental car in Cuba to download offline maps of Cuba to your spartphone and then using the GPS. This helped us several times - certainly... More

Older hotel, that looked out of place in retail and main pedestrian area. Interior reminiscent of old world style hotels but without the charm. Total power outage upon check-in. The hotel worked very hard to restore and the guests were politely patient. Now to the high-ceiling room: odd shape should have been designated as a single not two-person room; the... More

Who expects to go to Camaguay (beef capital of Cuba) and find this amazing colonial hotel - an enormous building, all the original features (including the crazy old elevator). This hotel has not been updated in ages but the original features are a big compensation factor - wooden shutters in your room that open up to a really cool view... More

We have been told it is the best hotel in Camaguey. Well It was a very nice colonial building centrally located with inner court The furniture old style but in good condition however the whole hotel seemed neglected. Our room was spacious enough with balcony but the pedestrian area below, too noisy. The bathroom small, no amenities, only soap. The... More

This elderly grand dame of a hotel is located right on the main pedestrian shopping street of Camaguey within walking distance of practically everything. Rooms tend to be medium to small, somewhat dark with narrow windows sometimes quite difficult to open. Streetside rooms are noisy and interior rooms darker but quieter after the evening entertainment closes down around 23 hrs.... More

I loved this old, centrally located hotel. Camaguey is a delightful city, easily accessed by foot from the hotel. Although the rooms look a bit tired, they are comfortable, nice hot shower, and AC. Breakfast is up at the top floor with lovely views of the city.
