Beautiful colonial building, charming interior courtyard with commanding stairway, stained glass, etc... The guestrooms varied - some better than others (bigger, updated...), some with small balconies & views. Friendly staff, music in the courtyard during meals and cocktails. Great location - everything in Old Havana is within walking distance, including the Malecon.

The building itself was very palatial and very nicely restored. The hotel staff were so wonderful and were so pleased to do anything for you. The rooms were huge and all quite different with windows and doors that could be opened to hear the roosters wake up call and the sounds of the streets. The bathrooms were interesting,, although very... More

Yes this hotel is centrally positioned but in one of the poorest streets in the city. It is very grand looking and our room on the 2nd floor had very high ceilings, an enormous super king bed with a second queen sized bed and with a stocked mini bar and an ensure bath (no plug!) 4stars at this point! We... More

We booked and paid for this hotel 3 months in advance. We chose this hotel for its location, size, the feel and price. After all we were not visiting Havana to sit in a room. After a very long delay at the airport we finally arrive at the hotel, exhausted, thirsty and hungry. Upon arrival we were pleased of the... More

This hotel can best be described as having aspirations for a standard, that in reality it does not live up to. The service at breakfast is sloppy and slow, and do not dine in the restaurant, the food is horrible. The location is good though, close to many attractions in Habana Vieja.

I was quite impressed on arrival at this grand looking hotel. However, beyond the initial looks the hotel was a disappointment. The room I had on the second floor was of a good size with an en-suite. It even had a bath, but no bathplug. Taking a shower it seemed that the water never got warm anyway. There were ants... More

room was grand but noisy as it bordered on street. What was unacceptable was that there was no hot water for the three nights we stayed. Restaurant and breakfast good. Close to major attractions in the old city.

The hotel is located close to Malecon in Havana vieja. A colonial style hotel very well preserved. The rooms are very spacious and the staff quite helpful. Very clean hotel. A tour operator office is located inside the hotel from where you can book your tours to Vinales, Trinidad, Cayo Largo, Santa Clara and other places. The breakfast is good... More

I read other reviews about this hotel before making my reservation. I wanted to avoid rooms without a window. I told my agent to book a room above ground floor (I thought windowless rooms are all on ground floor) but it turned out second floor has windowless rooms too. Our group got one room without window and another with windows... More

This hotel with its 100-year old building personifies Old Havana. All hotels in Cuba are owned by the State, so keep your expectations in check. The entrance from the street opens onto a three story atrium surrounded by the rooms. The elevator works, but the door closing sensor does not, so step lively lest you get yourself or your baggage...
