I think the maintenance man in this hotel retired in about 1965 and took his tools with him. We stayed in the hotel twice (it was booked through an agent) once when we first arrived where we stayed in cell 106 which was a windowless room which had suffered from the damp of the bathroom consuming the entire room. The... More

Unbelievably bad hotel. Food, rooms, staff are all substandard. Sink falling out of wall, either hot water or cold water but no reasonable water temperature for bath/shower. Very noisy location. GDo not stay here!

Rooms are large and basic. Bathrooms are updated, hot water and pressure can be spotty. Americans will want to use bottled water for teeth brushing as in all of Cuba. Bottled water readily available in an in-room fridge at a reasonable extra charge. If you are on a tour, plenty of bottled of water available at no extra charge. Towels... More

We picked this hotel for a special final night in Cuba. The disappointment started when the hotel was completely inflexible about check-in time, insisting that they would not talk to us until after the allocated time. The room was dark and dirty, and to make things worse we were woken in the early hours of the morning by the people... More

I love this historic hotel and the location is perfect. Breakfast is HUGE and delicious. There is a nice indoor courtyard to have a meal or a drink and the hotel has it's own bar. The staff were very friendly and worked hard to learn everyone's name. You can walk everywhere or the doorman will call you a cab. So,... More

Really liked this hotel for the atmosphere, location, and friendly staff. Although the AC was too cold, (a blanket solved the problem), the room was comfortable and included a small safe so passports did not need to be carried. We felt very safe walking around at night and enjoyed staying in this part of the city. ,

We booked this through a travel agency, and had a good idea of what to expect, but even so there are things that I wish I'd known, so here goes: 1. Good: perfect location for exploring the old town, surrounded by colourful streets and good restaurants, with easy access to cathedral, etc; some of the staff were really friendly and... More

The public areas were clean and very nice, except for the atrium roof which leaked in the rain. Our room was large and beds comfortable with a view from our balcony of "ghetto" penthouses but friendly locals. the A/C was much too cold (over Christmas) and we shut it off at night and opened the french doors after the music... I rated this average because I suspect it may be average for the quality of moderate hotels in Havana right now. The good: It is in a GREAT location for exploring Old Havana. The breakfast buffet is good, although sometimes items were not replaced when they ran out. The rooms were clean. Some of the staff were very friendly and... More

This will be a pretty memorable stay and there are some positives, however I take tripadvisor ratings seriously and 2/5 is how it calibrates. The access is from a poorly maintained (but which isn't ) little Habana Vieja street, but the location is convenient for tourism. The main lobby and inner views boast an excellent colonial style, which makes it... More
