From our arrival at the start of a 7 day stay in Casa 1940 - we three were all made to feel so very welcome by Doris and Maria. Nothing was too big a request and always ensuring that our needs were met, whether that was hiring cars to transport us to the airport or handy hints on staying safe... More

I stayed at Casa 1940 for 3 nights at the start of my stay in Cuba, and its run by the supreme, mother and daughter team of Dorys and Maria. Its in a very central part of Havana, and you can see the Malecon from the balcony, Havana Vieja is 5 minutes away. This part of town appear quite rough... More

We loved staying here. Initially when we arrived at the faded door and very old Casa Particular blue and white sign we thought we had the address wrong. When we were led up the stairs and entered the room/apartment we were highly impressed. It is a very comfortable apartment with lovely furniture and the bedroom and bathroom were great too.... More

We stayed for 9 nights in Casa 1940.We really couldn't have had better hosts than Maria and Dori. They were both lovely, genuine and caring people.A wonderful mother and daughter team. The bedroom was spotless and the sheets and towels were changed every second day.(They don't get changed that often at home i can tell you!).The shower in the bathroom was glistening and... We were disappointed that Luis at the lovely Casa 1932 couldn't fit us in for our dates, especially when we walked up the dark narrow staircase to Casa 1940. But once in the apartment, everything was excellent. The apartment was spacious and clean, and getting to know Dorey and Maria was one of the highlights of our Cuba trip. They... More

Luis from Casa 1932 is "The Man" in Havana. He was full but set us up at Casa 1940 with Dorey and Maria. Their place was excellent with large sitting room, 2 large bedrooms, great balcony and very friendly service! We enjoyed the convenient location too. Great place to stay!

After a long travel on the plane, we reached the room exhausted and tired but the view of the apartment justified our choice! The apartment is quite big even for families, clean, fully equipped, art deco furniture and the most amazing part is the balcony and the view straight to beautiful Malecon..It captured me by the very first place! Actually, Maria... More

We were initially disappointed when Luis of Casa 1932 said he wouldn't have room for us when we were in Havana, but then when we got to see how much space we would have to ourselves round the corner at his cousin's Casa 1940 we were actually glad. Luis' place is wonderfully decorated and has lovely 'outside' seating areas and... More

As all the other visitors have already said, this apartment is great, Maria and Dorys are wonderful hostesses, the place is clean, spacey, air-conditioned, nicely decorated (1940!), has a view on the Malecón and the sea from the balcony, but is protected from winds and traffic noise of Malecón by another row of houses. We stayed for 10 days. The... More
