Casa 1940 is very well located in Central havana, just one block from the Malecon. Dory was an very good host and provided very useful information about Havana. Breakfast was good and I would recommend this to all my friends. I certainly will go back to Havana next year and I hope this Casa will be available.

Good, clean and quiet apartment, bathroom, shower, balcony and good location ( close to sea and center). You will get the whole apartment for yourself instead of just one room like it is in normal casas particulares. Very nice for couples, friends or families who travel together. Also good for one or two people. Friendly, English speaking hosts who can... More

A great casa to finish off our Cuba holiday. A flat for the price of a room with a lovely lounge and a little balcony. Great location just seconds away from the Malecon. Wonderful and friendly host. What more do you need? Highly recommended.

Good location, great food, very comfortable and informative start for a trip to Cuba. Dory (a doctor) and her mom, Maria, are wonderful hosts. This was the only Casa in Cuba where we were quickly and accurately informed of the basic things we needed to know - what to avoid eating and drinking, what scams to avoid on the streets,... More

We spent two nights in this casa, which in fact isn't a casa as you get a whole flat just for you. They have 2 bedrooms, as there were 3 of us we had both rooms for us. It seems that if you only need one room, you still get the entire flat to yourselves. This is also the place... More

Casa 1940 is well situated for visiting central Havana and the old town, which are within easy walking distance. Casa 1940 is a self-contained flat (linked to Casa 1932, which is just round the corner). It is comfortable and clean, with attentive hosts Dory and her mother Maria on hand to provide good food and any help that is needed.... More

My stay in Casa 1940 is one of my fondest memories of Havana. Doris and Maria are wonderful and discreet hosts, always there to help. The Casa - actual flat not just a room! - is kept to a very high standard, and has a very homely feel to it. Somewhere you are looking forward to return to after a... More

Stayed at Casa 1940 in Late January 2013. The hosts Dory and Maria are fantastic. They are full of information and are willing to help you in any matter. The place is very large and the neighbourhood is safe. Everything you need you will find. in our two half days we managed to see everything in Havana and some places... More

My husband and I came back to Cuba for the second time andwe really wanted to visit Havana. We were lucky enough to spend 3 days and 2 nights in Casa 1940. This place is perfectly situated near El Malecon and a 10-minute walk to Old Havana. We walked everywhere and it was a nice retreat to go back to... More

My partner and I just returned from a wonderful week's vacation in Cuba, one of the top highlights of which was our stay at CASA 1940. Dory and Maria are excellent, considerate and helpful hostesses; and they prepare superb meals upon request. The chicken dinner Maria prepared for us on our first night was one of the best meals we... More
