Rolando is a very interesting individual. He is a former surgeon who had the opportunity to work in a humanitarian capacity during Cuba's involvement in Africa, but chose to return to Cuba. He had many great insights on the gradual economic changes in Cuba, and was clearly in-step with the reforms. Rolando and Magaly were able to organize accommodations for... More

We stayed at Casa Rolando y Magaly for the first three nights of a two week stay in Cuba then for our last two nights in Havana. Rolando, Magaly and everyone else who worked at the Casa and their backpackers hostel, a short walk away instantly made us feel welcome and were happy to answer any questions we had. The... More

Rolando and his family are the real deal. They are welcoming to invite you to their home and treat you like family. The bathroom could be better...but hey, all bathrooms could be better in Cuba. The mix of people who come an go in the only known backpacker place is Havana was a lot of fun. So light up a... More

I stayed at their other property, the backpacker's hostel, and had a wonderful experience. They are very caring people who want to make sure you get the most out of your stay in Havana! When I arrived Rolando sat down with me to explain a little bit about the area, the currency, the culture, etc. and showed me some maps.... More

Rolando and everyone else at this hostal are very nice and helpfull. I´m definetly staying there again when i hopefully return to Havana. There´s a nice relaxed atmosphere and it is close enough to everything so you can walk around the city.

Until then, stay here. You can meet cool people here, but Rolando was a jerk. I loved most of the Cuban people, but this guy just seemed like he didn't want to deal with us. Your experience may be different, but for my money, the second another backpacker hostel opens up, you'll be better off there.

Recommended to anyone who wishes to stay in Havana on a budget. Centrally located and close to all sites. The owners were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. All were welcoming and a nice breakfast was warmly served. Stayed in September 2010 (not December) and will definitley revisit if Havana bound. Chris and Alex

We had booked this casa particular in advance from the UK. When we arrived Rolando was waiting for us in the street as the taxi drew up. Later we saw him doing this for others when flights were due in. This made our arrival less confusing and also made us feel welcome. Rolando, who speaks perfect English, then gave us... More

Rolando y Magaly rent as well rooms in a Casa Particulares. I am a Swiss girl and stayed one week at their house in San Miguel 567, Centro Habana. Very large room in colonial style with a big bedroom and bathroom. The house is approx. 15 min. walk from Parque Central (central square in Havana). The family is very friendly... More
