Stayed at the Florida for 3 days in May as part of our honeymoon. Hotel is a lovely restored colonial building right in the centre of the old town. The rooms were comfortable with air con, table and chairs, large wardrobe (inc safe), big bathroom and balcony. The chambermaids did a great job and left us some lovely towel sculptures... more

Upgraded to suite upon arrival. Nice staff and the best location. We had so much fun! Two negatives in our stay. One-the air conditioning seemed to turn down at night. During the day the room felt cool and refreshing but a few times during our stay we woke up very hot in the middle of the night. The other issue... more

Choosing an Old Havana hotel seemed a lottery....but this IS A GOOD PLACE TO STAY. I've read other reports about staying in the room over the nightclub...and that is exactly the room we had! You are lulled to sleep with the Salsa rhythm...or you were in the nightclub anyway ! Staff here were generally much better than (the more expensive)... more

Architecturally, this hotel is beautiful representation of Havana's glorious past. It's located a short distance from Parque Central and is in the World Heritage-listed Old City. The hotel represented average value, with the positives and negatives as follows: Positives Large, attractive room and bathroom. Attractive, plant-dominated atrium. Negatives Front desk staff were inconsistent at best: occasionally not knowing their job... more

This was our first hotel in Havana, and it was one of the best we stayed in - but remember good for Cuba is decidedly average by world standards. The room was a decent size with a lovely colonial feel, a comfortable double bed and a massive bathroom. Staff were friendly, but the food was shocking more

We were booked into this hotel by an independant travel firm specialising in Cuban holidays. It wasn't our first choice but we were assured by the agent that we would not be disappointed and indeed we weren't. The hotel is in 2 parts - the original bit at the front and a newer part at the rear. Our room was... more

We stayed in this hotel for one night on our way to another resort. We were very tired so did not notice much. However, we returned on our way home and unfortunately were then able to see how this hotel needed a good clean! If you want to sleep we would not recommend as the noise from a) the bar... more

As expected in Havana, service is not a great priority for the employees who have a secure job. Complains go into one ear and out the other. First night we had to move hotels, the next they gave us a room with single beds, when we finally got what we wante, it was th night before we had to leave... more

We stayed at the Hotel Florida for 4 nights in Mid November through Voyager Cuba. We were with a couple of friends and on arrival they were given a room with a balcony overlooking Calle Obsibo whereas we were given a nearby room (Could have been room 1 - not sure) also on first floor. It was a large room... more

I have to agree with the comments made on 1 Jan 2009. We stayed at The Florida Hotel on the 2 Jan 2009 and this room was allocated to us. We noticed the smell straight away and the lack of any windows. We complained and asked to be moved. We ended up in Room 5 in the original part of... more
