If you want simply escape the cold weather then it is totaly worth it because the hotel is beautyfull and just next to the beach, but the rooms are soooo small (the bathroom in the room is cute thoght) so if you spend your days on the beach in the sun with you friends its cool but the personel there... more

Stayed at this hotel for two weeks. I noticed a preponderance of single males when arriving at the hotel. I quickly found out why this was so. Many prostitutes were accomodated at this hotel. The 'johns' had to buy an all inclusive so the ladies could stay in the hotel. They were obviously welcomed in the hotel by the management.... more

I recently spent 2 weeks at the hotel Tropicoco in Sta Maria del Mar in Cuba. Before leaving I didn't have great expectations about the hotel as I knew it is only a 3 star hotel and in a poor country like Cuba you can't have much for that, however it was a real shock to me to find out... more

Prostitutes and cockroaches abound. The beach was laden with used condoms and other forms of waste scattered around. The one day, I watched a woman wipe her child's butt (near a shrub), just after she had pooped; the woman proceeded to discard the dirty paper into the shrubs. A flat chested Quebec woman figured it was cool to strut around... more

If you're not looking for the typical spring break vacation, this place is an adventure! My two friends and I went for a few days in February, and as 3 single girls we were certainly in a minority at this hotel! A lot of the people staying here are couples or single men. Some characters were shady and we barricaded... more

We were very pleased with our stay at Tropicoco! This hotel is not for high maintenance people. Nothing was fancy but everything was clean. The location is great (beautiful beach and not far from Havana) and the shuttles to Havana save a lot of money aswell. The food was not great (bland, repetitive) but no one in our group starved... more

I have been coming to Cuba two to four times a year for the last twenty years. With the extremely high cost of transportation like taxiis and bus tours the free large air conditioned coach that travels four times a day to and from the start of the Prado and a short walk from the Museo de la Revolution that... more

I liked the place, it was right up my alley. If you are a reasonably outgoing person, single or couple, you'll be having a good time within the first hour. It was a simple, down to earth, working class crowd. All ages. The crowd was mostly Canadian, but there were some Germans, Italians, and the odd group from South America.... more

I spent one week at the Tropicoco hotel and it was not bad. I enjoyed the food, especially the yucca, soups, meats, fish, congrys, and salads and I did not get sick (I am famous for getting sick). I would agree that some dishes are provided again and again every day, but I believe they try to have variety. The... more
