Many things have been written about this place but one thing remains a fact: the bang per buck you get in this hotel is hard to match elsewhere in Cuba. Let me elaborate. Yes, the hotel may have seen better days (perhaps in the 90's... but I never visited then so I can't tell for sure)... but... The rooms are... More

Reception staff were helpful. Restaurant staff mainly sullen. Maybe in Cuba they all hate this job? Room spacious but everything a bit tatty. Beach gorgeous but the man looking after the chairs insisted on packing up everything at 5 (or was it 6) and so there was nothing to sit on for the evening hours. Bar staff ok. I learned... More

So many levels to this tear inducing Onion. 1. Its not in Havana, its about a 15 min drive east. Sunwing and Redtag do a very misleading job of leading clients to believe a lot of things and one of them is the location of this property. 2. This hotel is mainly inhabited by people who didn't research enough, cheap... More

I got to this hotel through a Sunwing package. It was cheap, but not as cheap as one may have expected... The building is from the 70s and has not been properly maintained, which is fine, but the services reflect poor management. I got a room with a king size bed with a phone and a TV that never worked... More

My first stay at the Tropicoco and I know it won't be my last. This hotel is a little dated but it has a lot of charm to it. The staff here is very friendly, when you approach them a nice smile and say hola and you'll be treated with charm. And of course a small gratuity helps. I made... More

This was my 4th trip to Cuba and my first time staying outside of Varadero. The staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean and all amenities were in working order. The food at the Tropicoco was better than any of the other resorts that I have stayed at in Cuba. The rice pudding was simply to die for. The... More

the hotel is a HUGE clunky mess. let me start with the dining hall. it is hot, no air circulation inside, you are sweating while eating. if you end up in a lower floor room prepare yourself in a torturous night trying to sleep because the condensate from the upper floor air conditioning hitting your unit the whole night is... I had a good time only because of some of the guests that I met. It is too bad that the beach hotels in the area are so shabby. This is one of the nicest beaches and all the hotels in the area are run down. What could make up for this hotel would be cheerful staff. All seem so... More

Just to be up front, I have traveled extensively and this was my 6th trip to Cuba. Stayed here March 2-9th. The Tropicoco is the worst hotel/resort I have stayed at in Cuba. Definitely a 1 or 2 star at best. The hotel itself is pretty cavernous and really does not have much to offer as far as atmosphere goes.... More
