We last visited this hotel on September 2014, I would not reiterate what I said then. If you would like read that review it was titled "Edgy". This time we visited on January 17-24, 2015, at this time it was close to full occupancy. On this visit the elevator worked reliably; this was a great relief to me as I... More

Booked a 5 day stay at Hotel Tropicoco for myself and 2 best friends whom are in our mid forties based on bang for buck for a flight and all inclusive with access to a beach as well as proximity to Havana. Using this as a home base our expectations were strictly a cheap place to put our heads down... More

Stayed here for 2 weeks and had an okay experience. Here are some comments / suggestions in no particular order: (1) Bed linens smelled pretty bad so maybe bring your own pillow cases and/or fabric softener sheets to help mask the smell. (2) Soap and shampoo in rooms were not changed often so bring your own. (3) Don't expect great... More

Unpretentious place across the street from the ocean. The food was average with the fish and pineapples being the best bets. They have a tendency to run out of food for a day or two. There are two convenient ways of getting into Havana; one was the free hotel shuttle service that ran twice daily that you have to reserve... More

First off we have to remember this is a Cuban 2.5 star hotel so my review is based on this. The bad points - The food is really terrible and breakfast is really the only good meal (I mean how bad can you screw up an omelet and toast). Also, the service in my opinion is very slow but it... More

Just came back after spending another week at Tropicoco. Remodeling and renovations are now over. There were a lot of old AC units and pieces of metal laying around in the back of the building which indicate they just replaced a bunch of equipment. The food was perfectly alright and there were enough choices for anyone. Yes,food is a bit... More

Okay, so the food is iffy, and the elevators work 50% of the time... but for the price you pay, this is one of the best beaches I've been at in the West Indies (having just returned from Montego Bay, Jamaica, and comparing to Barbardos and St. Lucia). The rooms are clean, the AC works, and most the reviews I... More

Stayed at the Tropicoco from Nov 3-10th. You have to realize i am reviewing a 2/2.5 star hotel and not a 4-5 star. For that purpose, Hotel Tropicoco was sufficient in making my stay most pleasant. My room was clean, spacious and simple. The air conditioning worked great. The safe was small so don't expect to fit a laptop in... More

If you have a family or married or this is your first time to Cuba, Tropicoco may not be your best bet. Stop being cheap and get something else that your wife will be pleased with, Say in Varadero with more stars. BUT if your single or with a group of friends and ready to enjoy Cuba and all its... Keep in mind that this is a Cuban 2* hotel that is very reasonably price, with realistic expectations this hotel is a gem. It is old and in need of renovations, the elevator did not work when we were there at the beginning of September but the characters it attracts is worth the price of admission. This hotel makes a...
