“We loved our stay at this hotel in Havana (December 08). Though some people have complained that it is a bit dated, we thought it was a fine example of how a hotel would have looked in Havana in the fifties. It is very grand with excellent décor. Our room was really nice with a great view of the city.... more

We booked into the Inglaterra as part of a two-centre package holiday (we spent four nights in Havana and 10 in Varadero) so didn't have any choice over our Havana hotel. While it is stunning from the outside and in an excellent location, it has no business calling itself a four star hotel. The main problems were the unfriendly staff... more

Plus+ Excellent location. Lobby is quite lovely. Tour bus stops outside. No doubt once a very grand hotel. Live music in the cafe area on the front of the hotel Lovely shaped elephant & boat made from a towel by the maid Minus- Balcony door didn’t lock. Balcony in desperate need of refurbishment Room in desperate need of refurbishment Bathroom... more

We had booked a 4 night stay at this so-called 4 star hotel and it had the potential to ruin our holiday. The place is in need of a complete overhaul and that includes the receptionist staff who chose to not 'understand english' when we tried to explain our concerns and need for a better standard of accommodation. Basic issues... more

I only actually visited rather than stayed in Hotel Inglaterra in April 2009 but encountered the rudest, least professional reception staff I have come across while visiting 80 countries worldwide and staying in thousands of places. I have just written to the management of the Gran Caribe group, which owns the hotel, making the same complaint. I won't bore you... more

Some of the bad reviews on here do have a point, but we paid the price of a budget hotel and found that it was perfectly fine. The hotel is fairly tired, and the bathrooms could definitely do with a facelift, but the location is fantastic. Breakfast was nothing special but we had plenty to eat. It's basic, but if... more

I'm afraid that the Inglaterra is desperately in need of a refurbishment - and there are now better hotels with good service. However.....do go along and visit the rooftop bar. The atmosphere is excellent, the staff are so friendly, the musicians are excellent, dancing salsa in the shadow of the Capitol building is just magical. We went back every night... more

I stayed here after deciding against doing a tour from out hotel in Varadero with the travel company. I've backpacked around Asia, the US and Australia. This compares with hostels rather than hotels. My friends had stayed here and recommended it for location and said it was shabby but atmostpheric. We weremn't intending to stay in the hotel for long... more

I've been to Inglaterra hotel just few days. Well, it's pretty old hotel. Some rooms doesn't have balcony and windows are closed. But one thing what i really liked it's sitting outside of the hotel and drinking coffee or bear and listen "guantanamera" from group of musicians. And in the evening u can also dance salsa. In that place I... more

I stayed at the Inglaterra a few years ago so I knew what to expect. Its reasonably clean but pretty basic too. It could do with a good refurb and a good manager. The balcony doors are loose, the net curtains need taking down and binning as there's no need for them and they make the room look like the... more
