After reading many reviews of this hotel I was not really looking forward to going. However it was miles better than expected. We opted for a high floor and got 23rd which was fabulous for the views and for the room. The staff on the reception are rude and will kiss each other and talk to each other to avoid... More

The Tryp Habana Libre is the hotel equivalent of all the old 1950's Plymouths, Dodges and Chevrolets you see on the streets of Havana. You can easily imagine that you're in an old Las Vegas hotel and that Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra will come strolling round the corner at any moment with a gaggle of showgirls in tow. Most... More

The previous reviews on here had worried me, but it really wasn’t all that bad. It could certainly do with a little sprucing but c’mon people, this is Cuba!! This hotel used to be the Hilton back in the 50s and I’m sure it was impressive then, now it just needs some TLC but is totally fine for a brief... More

Firstly, if you go with an open mind, and understand that this is a city centre hotel with the vast majority of its guests only staying a night or two/three, you will appreciate why some of the negative comments have been written by those expecting a 5-star resort hotel. Secondly, you need to keep in mind the simple fact that... More

We were very worried about our stay at the Habana Libre after having read the reviews on Tripadvisor. The hotel is indeed very worn and run-down and doesn't seem to have been refurbished since it heydays in the 1950's. Worst of all, however, was the lack of cleaning. The carpets in the corridors and in the rooms are dirty and... More

Having read the dire reviews we set our expectations of the hotel very low. Having done so it was in all honesty not as bad as we had anticipated. We had a room on the 19th floor and the views were amazing. The furniture in the room was very shabby and the carpet didn't look as if it been vacuumed... More

The Havana Libre hotel has good and bad points. It is an extremely busy hotel and most guests probably only stay for 2 or 3 days. The lifts were a nightmare although there were 6 lifts at peak times we could wait up to 15 minutes for one that was already full. The hotel is in 25 floors. The rooms... More

Regardless of many remarques from various guests, I believe this hotel is value for the money. Somehow the stuff managed to keep facilities in somewhat shape in all these years. Nice clean rooms, superb views, good location. And histroy... More

I've just returned from Cuba a couple days ago and our last stop was La Habana were we stayed at Tryp Habana Libre. From the outside, the hotel looks good and towering, but inside, the things are totally different. The rooms have humidity, the beds are in really bad conditions along with the blankets that were not totally clean specially... More
