What a shame! This hotel could have it all, the history, the location and the premises. But it seems that the Hemingway-connection has curbed any initiative or energy to maintain this hotel. I visited this hotel ten years ago and was back this summer and nothing seemed to have changed. Im not even sure if they had washed the floors... More

We stayed here as part of our G-Adventures family tour of Cuba. Although I can understand why it is used (being Hemminway's hotel, good base to explore Old Havana and the great view from the roof), overall the hotel was a disappointment. The fifth floor (where Hemmingway's room/musuem is located) is being renovated with banging and hammering starting at 7am!!!!... More

We spent a lovely couple of hours drinking mojitos (among other cocktails!) on the roof terrace here. The view is stunning, and is a perfect place to lose yourself in Havana! The staff were lovely and service was excellent. Remember to have some CUCs with you to pay the lady looking after the loos!!

While doing your walking tour of Havana call into this Hotel which is so famous for the time that Hemingway spent here. Take the lift, an old fashioned cage lift to his room and just get that feel that he is still there sitting at his typewriter penning For Whom the Bell Tolls. The hotel is pastel pink, and the... The only reasons to stay at this hotel are Location ( right in the center of everything) and the view from the top floor (6) restaurant and bar which was amazing at sunset and early in the morning. We had spent 8 days driving around the island from Santiago de Cuba back to Havana and had experienced the best and... More

Judging by some of the other trip advisor reports I have just read, I think we must have stayed in a different hotel to them. We found the check in staff friendly and they offered to book the early morning taxi for us. The room was fine, no trace of the damp reported elsewhere, the shower worked OK with reasonable... More

we were booked into this hotel as part of a tour of Havana and Trinidad. We paid for superior hotels (4 star) and unfortunately our advertised hotel wasn't available so we ended up at the ambos mundos. The hotel appears to survive off its reputation as being the hotel in which Ernest Hemingway stayed. As other reviewers have already stated... More

We were on a cycling holiday so had experienced a variety of hotels in Cuba, but this was my choice for the worst hotel. The location is the best thing about the hotel. You could search for other hotels and save yourself the time of writing a negative review like this. Stayed in room 403. Water leaked through the light... More

Despite the comments from other travellers and the ranking I chose this hotel based on location. I didn't expect much and got less. Positives are hard to find - the lobby (ignoring the tatty sofas) is nice and compared to everything else the towels were quite nice. Everything else is pretty bad. The room smells of damp that is being... More

Stayed here after checking out of "Hotel From Hell" Quite basic, but in the city and it was buzzing as festival time. Room comfortable, roof terrace restaurant, bar area. For a 3 night stay comfortable and clean. Hemingway used to stay here too, and there are lots of tourist visits.
