This hotel truly oozes with history as you walk around it. From the impressive entrance to the multiple pools (including the Johnny Weismuller favorite) to the tunnels revealing a story of the Cuban Missile Crisis, everywhere you look, there is another nugget of history. When you move to the rooms, the history feels a little different. I understand the economic... More

What a magnificent 1930's hotel. You can feel the past glitz, and see the cannons of the50's. This was Castro's headquarters. AC works, Food is serving all areas of the world so for breakfast everything from eggs to rice and beans. Wonderful fruit. Views teriffic. Have Toilet paper. Even have shampoo in the rooms .

On our recent visit to the Hotel Sol Cayo Coco Cuba, we booked a 3 day trip to Havana through the Thomas Cook representative Hector (the best tour representative that we came across in our 40 years of travelling), the trip is a 9 hour journey by bus from our resort, with two quarter hour and a 1 hour lunch... We arrived at the hotel to a wonderful lobby area, however the first thing we were greeted with with was a 40 minute wait for checking in, which would be my biggest criticism, as its the last thing you want after a long flight. We got to our room which was full of charm and character and a wonderful sea... More

Out off this world , felt like time warp , especially with the old card outside . As cuba goes it's the best around Havana . Hotel reception and ground floor outside and in is brilliant , but rooms are 30's and not touched since . Love the lifts and if a butler had been in them would been fun

This was my first visit to Cuba and this was going to be the first hotel which I hope would make an impression. First glance of the hotel from outside and in the main reception shouts out, character, history and gives the presence of living in the past. On arrival to the desk there were not enough staff to deal... More

We were really looking forward to staying in this historical hotel and the lobby and veranda did not disappoint. However, the rest of the hotel was very disappointing. When we arrived there were just 6 people in front of us checking in.........90 minutes later we were still queuing to check in! The service was very very slow and no real... More

Whilst it is true that this is a must see in Havanna , it is not the best of hotels to stay in. The breakfast was mediocre and whilst the staff were pleasant they were more concerned with chatting amongst themselves rather than helping the guests. Our room had a lovely view over the malecon and for that reason alone... More

This hotel is a fantastic testament to an era past. It is such a romantic setting that you can overlook a few basic bits of plaster missing here and there (parts that an OSH inspector would close). Such a large building needs a lot more upkeep than was evident. The room was good, the furniture close of the era (the... More
