The Hotel Nacional de Cuba is an iconic hotel and the place to stay in Havana. if you want a glimpse into the past, of a hotel in the late sixties and seventies, of faded elegance then this is the place for you! The food sounded alright, Chateau Briand …etc..but when the food arrived considering the setting, it was totally... More

We had lunch here because, as one of Havana's main historic monuments, we felt like it warranted a visit. From the bathrooms that lacked toilet paper and soap, to the shoddily put-together sandwich and overpriced cocktails, we were quite dissatisfied with our visit to the Nacional. Do yourself a favor and stay at a casa, eat at paladar restaurants- this... More

Dear Stephanie. Thanks for taking the time to visit the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, it is a National Monument, it is an historic hotel. We regret your dissatisfaction with how to present the sandwich and the price of cocktails, but also we regret that you came only to lunch you might have enjoyed this place if you have an interest... We stayed in this old grand hotel for 3 nights before heading out to our beach resort. This hotel looks grand and is heaped in history and the staff are hard working. But unfortunately the reviews are correct the room we stayed in 414 was nice but the smell of dampness was very strong and if it was not the... More

Spent three nights here in Sept 2014 and I have to say it was underwhelming. The cockroach in the bedroom was probably the defining moment for me. I know it is the Carribean but I saw them in the corridors too. We had an historic room - too old and dingy for my tastes, lets face it the place is... More

If Cuban culture, history, romance, and authenticity are your hot points then this is the place for you. The view is spectacular, the outdoor bar area offers great atmosphere with live music. We stayed for 6 days and noticed the hotel gets rather busy in the mornings with tours. The hotel is built in the 1930s and it is in... More

Absolutely fantastic hotel, we were treated to an amazing room with a great view of the Malecon, and not to mention a huge king bed. The hotel staff was helpful and accommodating. The building itself is an absolute masterpiece. Breakfast was good, again the staff are very helpful. There was something for everyone. The concierge/bellhop were fantastic - they helped make... More

This old colonial hotel has a soul which you feel as soon as you enter the foyer, the cultural mix of staff showed "The everyone is equal" ideals of Cuba. The restaurant though old looked tired and the food wasn't as inviting as what was on offer in the local restaurants The room we stayed in was ok but the... More

Fantastic hotel. Been reading some of the reviews of this hotel, and cannot believe some of the negative comments. Quite a long time since we were there, but the memories linger. Room, service, and breakfasts were brilliant. Hotel was very clean. Could have stayed there much longer than three nights. Had a small problem in our room, but was fixed... More

We bookended our trip to Cuba with a stay at the Nacionale de Cuba for two nights at the beginning and one night to finish off our honeymoon. Glad we visited as it's a really interesting building but would rather have stayed elsewhere. It's a significant piece of history and the views are exceptional but as for a hotel, the... More

Go for the history and the view. I'm surprised at the comments I'm reading about this hotel. First off you're going to Cuba to explore the culture, taste the food, mingle with the locals who cares about a rusty bath?!! The rooms are clean enough, great pool and cocktails that's all you need .
