Really nice setting, beautiful views and a place with lots of history. if you're expecting a renovated, ulta clean, with amenities, american style hotel, don't go there - and probably don't go to La Havana. But if you don't mind old furniture & carpets, slow elevators, etc then this is totally worth it. Very traditional. more

My Husband and I stayed here for 1 night in May, the hotel is magnificent, the parisien show is also worth a visit. The breakfast was terrible the service in the buffet was dreadful, the waitresses could not be bothered to clear the tables, and it was a problem when you wanted a clean knife and fork. Overall the staff... more

We stayed at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana for three nights in early April, in one double and one single room. The main reason for writing this review is to allay any fears people may have concerning the standard and upkeep of the hotel. Having read a number of critical reviews, we were pleasantly surprised to find it... more

We loved the Nacional and you should have seen the jealous looks we got from people just visiting the hotel on excursions! The staff are very friendly and helpful, contrary to what some people on here say (you must have been rude to the staff for them to be anything but friendly!). The hotel is elegant and beautiful, it's like... more

Stayed at the nacional in May 2009 and despite knowing that havana would be different to many other similar starred hotels elsewhere was very disappointed. The room smelled of damp, the air con stank as well. Food was awful and over priced for what it was. Staff were surly and unhelpful except when holding their hands out for tips. The... more

My partner and I had 2 nights at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba while in Havana. We found the bed in our room to be very poor and quite uncomfortable. Recommend that you see the room and check the bed before staying. The buffet breakfast is terrible and poor even by Cuban standards. The bar made up for everything. The... more

The hotel is quite amazing: is one of the few in La Habana who mixes cuban style and confortable rooms. The staff is nice, but the last days we realise that some of our things were stolen: clothes and shoes. Beside this, we had a pleasant stay : good drinks and food. Its true that cuban people is not allowed... more

The hotel is old, yet inviting and comfortable. My room was redone and even had two american tv stations. The staff wasn't exactly helpful, though if you had a question they would help. Still, I preferred not having people falling over you and then getting attitude if they figure the tip isn't big enough. The breakfast was ok, probably the... more

The hotel is Art Deco, built in the 30s, and the whole of the 2nd floor was once home to the Mafia. It stands on a small hill, and has fantastic views over the sea, and across the bay to Havana city. The hotel is about 5 minutes from the city by taxi, and a 35 minute walk - but... more
