We stayed at the Nacional for 3 nights before transferring to the resort of Varadero. It's a beautiful, grand old hotel-the only time we've stayed in one of the very top hotels in any city. Firstly, the negative point-the rooms, although large and tastefully-decorated, are definitely in need of updating with regard to some facilities e.g. plumbing. However this is... More

This famous hotel is trading on it's past but it doesn't really have a future. Our room was grim! Lots of stains on the carpets, dodgy electrics (cables held together with insulting tape and lights that worked when they felt like it - a bit like the staff). The lobby reminded me of a railway station - very noisy with... More

Is certainly a big grand hotel. Lots of bars that are well priced and service was adequate. We were shocked by the price of wifi but after traveling through Cuba you understand why. A) only big hotels in Havava have it and b) they basically want to make it only affordable to tourists. No where else in Cuba outside of... More

Rather good hotel in Havana, in a remarkable place. Worth visiting the building and the remarkable park. Prices are rather expensive. Rooms are correct, attention to customer is fair, without more. The hotel obviously lives on herds of tourists who behave in groups as they would in any other places... Food is correct at breakfast, kind of international tasteless stuff... More

It cannot be denied that this is the most historic hotel in Cuba. The lobby and adjoining bar are full of interesting memorablia but once you've perused that, the rest leaves a lot to be desired. For starters, the staff all have an attitude. They make you feel like they are doing you a favor just to let you be... More

Like someone else said - you come here for the 'ambience' - you really do feel you have stepped back in time. Our teenage children did not like it at first - they thought there was a strange 'smell' to it but I think it was just part of it. They ended up loving it as did we. The old... More

Overall the ambience is very good, particularly the terrace and gardens overlooking the Malecon. Faded splendour and musty smell in the room, possibly from the very old carpet. The hotel is quite a tourist spot because of it's history. Overall customer service disappointing with the exception of a very helpful concierge. Be prepared to tip for everything but don't expect... This old historic hotel is located in the heart of the city in Old Havana. Very well kept and clean, 4-5 star hotel with wonderful staff. Walking the streets of Old Havana, day or night, is amazing. So many things to do. Jazz bands playing on every street corner. Tons of eateries, bars, etc. Very good area to spend a... More

Think Hotel Del Coranado in San Diego, or Plaza in New York. This is a very busy business/ tourist hotel in Cuba- its showpiece. It has been fairly well kept up for its 80 year old. Rooms are well maintained, although the elevators aren't. Food service is under par- not much available. Pool is great to cool off, and you... More

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel, having stayed elsewhere in a 3atar Cuban hotel, this hotel just seemed grand in comparison. It was like going back in time and I loved the large reception area, the lifts, the room. The food was good, there was WIFI available (at a cost), a gym, nice swimming pools and a classy vibe....
