This is one of the finest hotels in Havana. It embodies the ole days when the Godfathers and mob bosses ran Havana. Rooms are clean, service is OK, but the view from the back patio of the hotel is spectacular

Although it is an icon, it is not great. The hotel is cavernous, perfunctory service, front desk people who have never gotten past the Soviet mentality and could care less about customer service. Hotel Nacional is a lovely historic building. We had a large room that overlooked the malecom that what was very clean and comfortable. Terrace bars are lovely. The Hotel Nacional is under the impression that it is a luxury hotel. It isn't. It is a landmark and tourist attraction run by a socialist bureaucracy.
