The hotel is good, it has an interesting history and even if you are staying somewhere else, you should definitely go just on the tour for to hear the history where they explain the missile crisis, mafia, Sinatra..etc. It's quiet a walking distance from the center of old Havana and if you are walking certainly be careful of the locals,... Whilst half the charm of visiting Old Havana is the essence of the era of the 50's that it still holds, the Hotel de Nacional could still do a lot better to be a 5 star hotel and especially for the price. Our toilet dos not work and the lights were also an issue. The room was damp and smelt... More

My wife Kay and I stayed here in August 15. Hotel doesn't really deliver. Rooms are good, but hotel listing tells of great cocktails etc. this may have been true in the past but not true today. Most staff we dealt with in hotel were surly and downright rude. They had not time for us. The only place we enjoyed... More

A very impressive building with an awesome history, it's definitely worth a visit but there were a number of issues with staying here that are not really acceptable for this hotel category and price. Positives: - historic bar with Art Deco features and a nostalgic atmosphere - beautiful lobby area - impressive building right on the Malecon with great sea... More

We had the opportunity to visit this hotel to buy Tropicana tickets and was amazing, the grounds are beautiful and the "movie from the 30's" experience was well worthy, I really felt like "Fred Astaire" having a drink in the gardens with my family with Cuban music being played by a local group. Go and visit...

Iconic hotel in La Habana, definitely worth a stay or a visit: old reception desk, long bar, 2 large pools, several restaurants to choose from (one is quite formal with classic singers & piano), the outdoor restaurant La Baraka serves excellent chicken on charcoal (but stay away from the disappointing beef: expensive & tasteless). We were there on the historic... More

We only stayed here for one night before our flight left out of Havana. Like other reviews say, this isn’t luxury and is a bit tatty around the edges, but has some great 1930s features and lots of history. So if you are into that, it’s a good place to stay. Our room was fine – could do with some... More

If you're looking for timeless elegance and attentive service this is the place to be. The hotel and gardens are beautifully maintained and employees take care and pride in this. The service is second to none; old fashioned courtesy and manners. We took the tour of the hotel with an amazing lady called Stella who brought the history of the... More

We stayed at this iconic hotel for 3 nights before our tour and then again 2 nights at the end. The grandeur of the building is legendary! However, this is a government run hotel. Some staff could certainly benefit from ongoing training, as attention to detail was not particularly evident compared to western standards. I was somewhat horrified that our... More

We stayed at the Nacional for 4 days . We were made to feel welcome from the minute we arrived. Luggage taken to our rooms. Rooms were spotlessly clean ..and the view of the gardens and the sea were a bonus. The buffet breakfast was amazing ..and plentiful. We enjoyed the conducted tour of the hotel and discovered some of... More
