Having recently returned from a two week stay here I feel the need to counter one or two perceptions. Perhaps some reviewers simply like to complain: a well-known English trait! Anyway, here goes. 1. The room was outstanding and not a tad dirty or smelly. 2. Breakfast buffet likewise with staff if anything clearing away TOO efficiently. 3. Staff were... More

Only stayed in this hotel for one night during an over night trip to Havana. Hotel looks spectacular from the outside! Lobby area and grounds are really nice too. However, our room wasn't up to standard. It felt soooo old (I know it is but it felt strange)! The bed clothes didn't even feel or smell clean and there was... More

Dear Guest. Thanks for sharing your feedback about your stay at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba. As you say, the architecture of the hotel is stunning, and it has memorable history, by this the Hotel is a National Monument. We regret your dissatisfaction with the room, they are decorated in the style of the 30s. We are pleased that you... More

This is one of my favorite hotels in the world. I've stayed in nicer hotels, sure. But the history and the atmosphere at the Nacional are out of this world. You walk through the massive front doors and it is like stepping back in time. The cool, dark lobby leads you to a terrace I dream about over and over.... More

Dear and faithful guest. Thank you for your positive comment about the Hotel Nacional de Cuba. We are glad to hear that this is one of your favorite hotels because of the history that your walls remain. You did a good choice, you stayed on the 6th floor, the executive floor with private services. We hope you return soon, the... More

For all its shabbiness and foibles I loved the Hotel Nacionale and would recommend it unconditionally to anyone visiting Havana. It's in a great location for exploring the beautiful old city and what it might lack in conventional five star luxury it more than makes up for in history, grace and atmosphere. Check in was fast, bell hop was fast, air conditioning perfect, breakfast perfect. They ripped me for 5.5 CUC on check out for a missing soda and a cookie. I have not drank a soda in 30 years but for 5.5 CUC, why fuss. It was an incredible value. Pool was excellent for an afternoon dip. I think maybe 9... More

Set in Vedado we spent our final night here after 4 nights in the Old Town. Much preferred staying in he Old Town. hotel Nacional is a historic icon but faded glory. Lovely large pool and great terrace for evening drinks but rooms are tired.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing to stay, at least one night, in the Hotel Nacional de Cuba. A historical Hotel but with the facilities required in this time. We are glad because you enjoyed the history, pool, garden and beverages. All the rooms have new furniture, but designed like the original in 1930. We will like you return again... More

Tip- Historic rooms seem to cost the same as normal rooms, and can be requested when reserving. Poor breakfast, poor service, hours not made for guest (gym opens at 8am and pool closes at 6pm!). The bright side was the excellent historical tour at 11am each day; the guide was great.

Although my wife and I did not stay at this hotel we did visit it for the Parisian show, this included a buffet evening meal. On arrival at the hotel we walked around to get a feel for the place. We were disappointed. The swimming pools did not look at all inviting in fact were quite dated with high sides... More

This hotel has a lot of history (worth exploring) and it is located in a nice and really safe area of Havana. The ocean views from the garden and patio are beautiful. You can get to old Havana by taxi or walk there via the Malecon in 20' minutes or so (recommended). The room was relatively clean but a bit... More
