I have stayed in the hotel twice now in the last 10 years and am looking forward to return next week and then again at the end of June both times for a week. As any hotel I have visited in my life there are good sides and bad sides but as long as you keep an open mind and... More

We stayed here for four nights in late January. As the Hotel was overbooked when we arrived, we were offered an upgraded room on the 8th floor. The room was clean and spacious, with a good view out over the Málecon. The hotel is mainly well kept , however as with much of Cuba there are areas that desperately need... More

This hotel was sadly a disaster for us - we were so looking forward to it but it is not what you think it is. The claim to it being the best 5 star in Havana is not fact but fiction and were were very disappointed as it was here we spent our last night in Cuba. We arrived at... More

We stayed at the renowned Nacional and were excited about staying there because of its history and because it is supposed to be the hotel to stay at in Havana. Although we’re glad that we did stay here, there are better hotels in Havana (Iberostar Parque Central being one of them). CHECK-IN This was pretty quick and painless and luggage... More

We stayed at this hotel with a group from Road Scholar on a people-to-people trip. As expressed in earlier reviews, the hotel is very historic, with a beautiful lobby and grounds that overlook the Malecon. Having a drink on the terrace in the late afternoon or evening was very scenic and relaxing. Many famous people stayed here in its earlier... More

It is a beautiful and historical gem within the city but it is not worth the stay, value for money wise. I went to Cuba with my wife to celebrate our anniversary. The lady at the front desk was not only not in a good mood(rude by the way) but gave us a room with double beds. We asked for... More

A beautiful and historic property!! However they "bill it" as 5* and it's far from that. Probably 3 1/2***'s. My room had a beautiful view of the ocean, but the green carpet was flat and soiled. The air conditioning had a bad smell. Breakfast was included BUT get there early!! They don't replenish it very well. The staff is not... More

We stayed at the Nacional for three nights at the beginning of March. The place has a strong sense of history reflecting the glamour of a bygone era. There is a strong feeling being in a time capsule. Our accommodation was in the Gary Cooper room on the second floor. In terms of a landmark location it met all our... More

Impression of hotel completely ruined by a farce of a check-out in which items from the mini bar mysteriously appeared on our bill, 3 juice boxes to be exact. After questioning this I was invited to return to the room to discuss with a cleaning lady, whose routine seemed very much practised and well rehearsed showing us the fridge minus... More

Dear Guest. We appreciate your admiration for the history of the Hotel and for having chosen the Hotel to stay in Havana. Allow us to explain what is the procedure for payment of the minibar in the room. The cleaning lady reports every day consumption of the customer. Then during checkout, the customer must pay for what consumed. Rarely there... More

Steeped in history with a fascinating hotel tour (led by a lady in her 70's who took part in the revolution in the 60's) looking at the Cuban missile crisis, revolution and mafia connections etc. Its age and history means its not quite as comfortable as it could be but the history etc more than makes up for it. The... More
