We were referred on to this house when we showed up and found the casa we had booked was already full, and we turned out to be really lucky.
Melba is a wonderful host. Really friendly and helpful. A lovely person.

The casa is great too. She and her family live on the 8th floor of a block of flats in Centro Havana, very close to the Casa della Musica, and a short walk from Havana Vieja. It's also not too far to walk to Vedado. And I like the fact that it felt like a more "real" part of Havana, less like a living museum.

Melba's cooking is also great. Abundant portions and much better than the one restaurant we went to while we were in Havana. She does three course dinners in the evening and wonderful breakfasts, which we had on the patio, with deliciously fresh fruit juice, lots of coffee, platefuls of fresh fruit and eggs done however you want them.

The room is a good size. very clean and comfortable. Not a colour scheme I would have chosen... more
