We have stayed in other casa particulares in Havana, and this one is very handy, being close to the international airport, cheap, and one of the most welcoming. The only thing to keep in mind is that the only way to contact her is by phone, which is 45-10-41. As soon as we arrived in Havana, we called her to make plans to stay at her house the night before we left for Cuba.

The house is literally on the other side of the runway. We could have walked to the airport, though it would have been quite a long walk with luggage, so we took a taxi. In Aug of 2007, if you caught a taxi passing by, they would have charged us only $5CUC, but we called for one and for that they wanted to charge us $10, but we ended up paying only $7CUC.

The neighborhood is not in a tourist area, so there are no restaurants close by. She does make delicious meals for you at a small cost and has bottled water available as well. The bathroom is shared between 2 rooms that are rented out... more
