This is a great Casa Particular in Old Havana, close to all the main sites of interest in the area, but still quiet, especially at night. The owner, Rene is really friendly and very helpful, if a little crazy! The room has a private bathroom, although this is shared if the other room is also occupied. Breakfast for CUC3 per person was a mountain of fresh fruit, fresh coffee and good omelettes. Rene helped with organising accommodation in Vinales and Soroa, which were equally friendly and welcoming, especially Haydee in Vinales.
Havana, and the west of Cuba are amazing places. The people are super friendly, there's great music on every street corner, the daiquiris are superb, the diving in Maria La Gorda is great and the food is good as long as you stick to the Casas and Paladares. Hotel food and accommodation is a bit disappointing and is best avoided. more
