The Moka Hotel, based on price and initial impressions promises to be rather good and overall it is. It just has that Cuban characteristic of looking slightly unkempt in places. I don't mind a bit of tattiness and eccentric bathroom fittings providing it's clean and peaceful and the Moka was both. Food in the restaurant on the other hand was... more

Stayed here for three nights as part of a tour (only five people on it). The rooms were large and we had a large balcony overlooking the commuinity. The bathroom has a sheer glass wall - some rooms had blinds but not ours and the bathroom was then visible from our balcony but hopefully not from the road below! Whilst... more

The Moka is situated in the community of Las Terazas, surrounded by forest. The community is by no means typical of Cuban life in general, in fact it's a bit of a show place. However, it is very pleasant and relaxing. The hotel is comfortable and reasonably well equipped. Be prepared to be woken around 2.15 a.m. by the local... more

It all depends what you want to compare the Moka with....by Cuban standards it is pretty good, by European standards, it struggles. The eco stuff is mixed - the local village is 1960s concrete, but unlike a lot of Cuba, it is not falling to pieces, and is well looked after. Thatched native huts it certainly isn't. The lake is... more

La Moka is a lovely, peacefull hotel and a great contrast to Havana. The staff are friendly and helpful and we found our 2 night stay very relaxing and enjoyed walking in the lovely scenery. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the restaurant is adequate if not spectacular. The pool is also a real bonus. more

We stayed for 2 nights in late July. When we arrived there was a mix-up with the booking and although I had already paid we were not listed and the hotel was fully booked. Eventually, a room was found for us, which was really lovely, with a view out on to the valley and complex below. Lying in the bath... more

We stayed here as part of an Explore trip around Cuba (Backroads and Beaches) and loved it. The rooms are not plush but all have balconies looking down on the village through the trees. It felt special with the buildings being constructed around the trees literally. We eat in a local paladar and went walking in a tropical storm...it was... more

We stayed for three nights in February. The hotel is built into the hillside and overlooks the village of Las Terrazas which is set in an ecological national park. The staff at the hotel live in the village and are part of the cooperative that is Las Terrazas. Because the hotel is in the hillside Reception is on the top... more

This is a very unusual place, being man-made but very beautiful with lots to do both in the complex and further afield. Facilities were fine by Cuban standards and food was average Cuban, but do try the vegetarian restaurant just below the hotel. We had hot water most of the time, though things don't dry quickly with the hunidity. We... more
