This was our third time at the BDI. Had previously travelled there with oldest daughter three years ago. Brought all the kids this time. The place still maintains it's charm. It has very basic accomodations, but they are spotlessly clean. The place sits right on the water, just north of Small Wall. Small Wall is an excellent site, so much... more

This was our first time to Bonaire. I have to say that nearly everyone we met at Black Durgon Inn had been there many times before. The location at the Small Wall dive site or the Black Durgon dive site is right there! Other divers get there by boat, but not us!! The main draw is certainly diving and the... more

Stayed in the apts at Divers Paradise that were very good. The Black Durgon is set up for budget minded travelers who like to shore dive. I prefer boat dives. Al set us up with Yellow Submarine dive shop. Only a mile from the resort, fair service.. Plus's are the apts (Black Durgon rooms looked very dark) and the price,... more

My review will be LONG & SWEET! Rick and I came to the Black Durgon after reading the reviews. It sounded just perfect for us. We arrived the first time June 9 2008, Rick got scuba certified and I began my cert. Met such great people, most if not all divers. Loved the Black Durgon & Al so much, decided... more

The BDI is an affordable, spartan, minimalistic, clean accommodation. Breakfasts are adequate, healthy and basic. The shared refrigerator system did not work so well for us as food and beverages were removed by others during our stay. The diving from the pier is spectacular and dramatic with tarpon, turtle and giant trevally. The room had A/C, a fan, and a... more

Our room, #1, was very basic and the smallest room at the Inn. There is no shower curtain so the water splashes onto the floor and is quickly absorbed by the small rug, which then turns soggy so you must take it outside and hang it up to dry. There is no place for a shower curtain. Rooms 1,3 and... more

Wonderful place for divers. You will leave with new friends. The reef behind the hotel is incredible, with easy entry and exit. The rooms are no-frills, small and dark. The water was hot and abundant, the rooms were clean and the company couldn't be beat. This isn't a place for everyone - but I loved it. more

A mecca for divers who are above all interested in diving. Small number of rooms with very personal attention. Al's motto; "come as vacationers, leave as friends" is absolutely right on. Great advice on the island of Bonaire, local places to eat, shop visit. You will always run into some divers who are returning to the BD. When we were... more

Black Durgon is a great place to stay if diving is your main passion, we have visited there on 3 times now and will return in October 2008. This is a really relaxing family run establishment , no frills but plenty of friends. Doris does a great breakfast which sets your day off a treat, the diving and snorkelling at... more

For our purposes, Black Durgon was perfect, and we can't wait to return! Fishseeker's review was accurate, but like so many of the reviews on the internet have said, if you're looking for luxury, this might not be the place for you. However, if you don't mind sacrificing in comfort for an unbeatable price, a FANTASTIC location, and REALLY NICE... more
