the hotel was run down, dilapidated and dirty. The food was poor, the service was poor and we moved out after two nights of a ten day holiday. more

Having been to Barbados 4 times i would have to say i enjoyed our 2wk stay more then previous visits. we paid £1050 each 2wks A/i (including flights and transfers),so we were slighty worried as it seemed to good to be true as neighbouring hotels were 50%-100% more expensive, and the reviews were either positive or totally negative, there seemed to be... more

It does not pretend to be anything but a modest 3* hotel and its slightly faded glory is,for us, a major attraction. The gardens are the best maintained of any similar hotel and much better than most. The East Coast beaches are generally very poor, but this has the best one along this strip, much better than Mango Bay,Sandpipers and Settlers and... more

Dont write this hotel off! Its a bit faded and has certainly seen better days - however we have just returned from a fabulous holiday at Discovery Bay. The rooms are large and clean, sheets changed regularly (contrary to previous remarks) and the staff are lovely and cannot do enough for you. Yes the food can get a bit boring... more

Top room was grubby, sheets only changed once in 10 days, walkway between apartments very uneven (not suitable for the elderly), food predictably boring with not a lot of choice, Lounge and Dining rooms nice, limited choice at breakfast. Our room was dirty with painted cupboards - couldn't open - most disappointing. The whole place is well past it's sell... more

My wife and I stayed at the Discovery Bay hotel and will not be back....we stayed in a first floor room overlooking the pool and whether it was because we were paying £1200 ($2000) for the week ,we left feeling as though our expectations had not been met and very disappointed. Our main gripe centres around the quality of the room... more

we went on holiday to this hotel with some trepidation having booked it and THEN read the bad reviews. BUT either this hotel has made tremendous improvements or our standards are very low! The hotel was delightful, built in the plantation house style ( 40 years ago?) , 2/3 storeys high, large rooms, huge comfortable beds and quality bed linen,... more

I stayed at Discovery Bay having spent the previous 10 days at another Rex Resort Hotel in Antigua, Halcyon Cove, as part of a trip to watch England play some mediocre cricket. There was quite a contrast. Those things which the HC was weak at DC got right and vice versa. Part of this was due to the relative sizes.... more
