We went during the offseason and it definitely felt this way. One restaurant open with the same small menu for 5 nights. Gift shop closed and in disarray. I have just returned from the Reefs Hotel and I was surprised when the taxi driver taking us from the airport told us about the renovation works at the hotel. We enjoyed both a sea view room and a pool view room which were equally good. Time of year Jan not the best of time to go as the weather is mixed however plenty to see on the island.
