The reviews for the Occidental (formally the Allegro) are like a rollcoaster...up and down. My wife and I had a good time when we stayed there. We prefer all inclusive, even though there are people that would say this is insane when there are so many good restaurants on Aruba. The food at the Buffet was average, but at their... More

I travel to Aruba every year and the Occidental was my first experience at an all-inclusive hotel. This property is delightful. Service staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurants include Italian, Asian, Carribean, Mexican for dinner and Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Beach Club in the pool area also serves a buffet until 5pm. There is a great variety... More

The resort was clean and everyone was friendly. As a matter of fact, the entire Island was friendly. Th casino was modest, but again, a lot of fun (go to the Marriott for more choices). The beach was a close walk from the pool and both had convenient bars to frequent. The views from the non-pool rooms still had a... More

INTRO My wife and I stayed at Occidental Grand for six nights and really struggled to get into the flow of how the hotel worked. It's unfortunate that for the money we paid to stay here, we were constantly saying to eachother; "it's ok, lets just make the best of this". These are the last words anyone wants coming out... More

This review is overdue, but in brief this was an amazing time.. The food and drinks were great if you were paying for each meal, which means for an all-inclusive its all good. The Beach was AMAZING, pool was good kind of crowded but still great. The room was very clean, no concerns over that. The service was very good,... More

The ceiling was dripping so bad that the floor was slippery. When we came home I had to go to the hosptital with bronchitis.I was there for 5 days. We don't know if we would go back. This year we are going to the Riu.

I know nice – I really do – I know the meaning of Royal Service also and -The Occidental should be ashamed of themselves – the royal service is a JOKE! What a waste of money – The beach was overly crowded and no personal space -you have to get up at 5am to get a chair b/c the towel... More

We were very skeptical about our stay because of previous poor reviews. We travelled there with a couple who had planned the event and felt obligated to follow through with the arrangements. Our prior experiences with all inclusives were with "the big chain" in the Carribean. We always stayed in the best suites with all of the extra add ons... More
