We were greeted at the hotel to find out we had been upgraded from a regular room to one with an ocean view. When the bellman brought up our luggage he explained how to use the door card keys to turn on the lights, & we found that we had a free bottle of champagne already waiting for us in... more

Only go to Aruba if you are going for total relaxation. No WOW factor. This hotel had so-so food, nourishment but nothing was really good tasting. Service was so-so, rarely anyone was cordial or seemed happy. Beach was so-so, seaweed located on the bottom 1/3 of beach floor. As soon as we walked in we were serviced a cool beverage... more

I thought we are going to have 4 star service but unfoturnately that was not the case. The service needs a lot of improvement. The only person that I think was nice there was Sandra. She helped us with all our arrangements. The breakfast was ok, Lunch needs a lot of improvement, dinner was much better. I think there should... more

The food was average at best. The service at the restaurants was poor (took 1.5 hrs for a 3 course meal, took 20 minutes to get a table at the buffet for breakfast or lunch on 3 different occasions). Long waits for drinks at the pool bar, got fed up with it and walked to the beach bar for a... more

The service is very bad.  90% of the staff is rude and don't even say hello or smile.  I felt like I was a burden to them every time I asked for a drink or a towel or anything.   Kids activity none what so ever.  Their kids room is the size of my upstairs bathroom.  The door hardly opens up,... more

2 weeks of overindulgence and relaxation was on the cards and that was what we got. Our First stay in aruba - what a lovely place. The beach and the ocean are to die for. Fab shopping and good nitelife. We thought the food/drinks were a bit pricey - but I expect that is because pretty much everyting has to... more

This is not a 4 star hotel. This hotel needs major renovations. Our room smelt like mold and mildew. You could not see out of windows because of dirt or broken seals in the glass. Air conditioning was poor and loud. Very dark and cramped rooms. We were not able to eat in all of the restaurants because they said... more

My extended family of 6 adults and 2 children, ages 8 - 85, spent the week of July 5th at the Occidental Grand Aruba. I was extremely apprehensive based on the inconsistency of the previous reviews as much as the outright negative ones. Inconsistency in service, especially in the the hospitality industry, is never a good thing. I just didn't... more

We travel all of the time and stay at top rated hotels. After booking the Occidental we read the reviews and we were scared to death our vacation would be awful. I have to say it was absolutely perfect!! Upon entry of the hotel we were offered the island favorite "Ariba Aruba". They helped us check in, book excursions, book... more
