The company I work for booked one night here prior to us moving to another island. First impression of the hotel was that it was probably "Grand" some 30 years or more ago. All public areas were old and poorly maintained. Fire doors in the room corridors were rusted off their hinges and the elevator (only 1 working) was dirty.... More

Arrived yestday and this big scruffy hotel empty of people reminds me of an old UK hospital or sanitarium. Affected by a recent hurricane but the attention to detail in areas the hurricane could not have reached is poor considering the cost. This hotel is not cheap and I could get better quality in London for the same price. food... More

It's hard to add anything unique having read the other reviews. I try and reserve the highest and lowest ratings for exceptional (in both respects) standards or service so that they don't become devalued. It would be hard to rate this hotel as anything other than terrible. As with other reviewers, the only reason we were here was because Liat... More

After paying close to $500 US for a return ticket Barbados /San Juan Puerto Rico, our flight out of Barbados was delayed, and so on arrival to Antigua, which was the connection to San Juan, we were advised that the flight had already left, and so we would have to clear immigration, and stay in Antigua for the night. We... More

I stayed at the Grand Royal for my honeymoon for two nights and I absolutely had a wonderful time! The room does have a 1970's feel to it which for me was great because it gave me a cozy feeling. The veiw was amazing as I was able to see the entire lagoon, beach and town. Especially at night with... More

I had to stay here because my original Liat flight was discontinued and they never told me which in turn caused me to have to stay in Antigua from a delayed flight in Barbados. We arrived at the hotel around 11pm. The drive is about thirty minutes from the airport. Upon arrival the girl at the desk was great but... More

If you are looking for a quiet, isolated, and beautiful beach please visit here. The hotel could use some work but the staff was extremely pleasant towards me and my daughter. The beach is private and makes for a nice romantic get away. It is extremely peaceful and relaxing after running all around the island doing everything imaginable. This hotel... More

We had to spend 2 nights there due to continously cancelation of Liat flights. The place is a time machine getting you back to 70s . Awful service and the rooms are horrible. Food terrible as we were in a full board plan provided from Liat apparently. The first night we entered there were 25 of us all coming from... More

The security on one occasion couldn’t be bothered to take my family situation serious never asking are we alright, two came to their post the other sat down whilst one came across to open the gate. I had to shout at both of them to come chop chop, the security guard had the tenacity to reply I shouldn’t be using... More

I stayed one night here after my LIAT flight was cancelled and all I can say is: MOSQUITOES! MOSQUITOES everywhere. I don't know if it's low/dead season for the hotel, but our flight companions were the only ones staying there. And they don't seem to be maintaining the place. The dining area is specially full of mosquitoes, so beware.
