My family spent our eighteenth year relaxing at Ocean Gate. It continues to be a quiet oasis to relax in, 'far from the madding crowd'. Ocean Gate is well-kept, the grounds, foliage and flowers are beautiful as are the views. As I have noted before, you really don’t have to leave this island of tranquility except for lunch or dinner... More

We stayed 2 nights just before the hotel closes in October (2013) in the Cedar Building. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom was fine. We had an attractive view over the water. It is a bit pricey but worth it due to its fantastic location. One big attraction was the canoes and kayaks available to... More

From our balcony, overlooking sail boats in the inlet and peaceful pine trees. we saw the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Our apartment allowed us to have our mini schnauzers. Buffet breakfast included. Found it easier to make dinner at home with lobsters from Robinson's Wharf priced at $4.50 a lb!

A great pick with no former knowledge of the resort. Booked thru Expedia and got a good deal based on their rack rates. Very nice room overlooking the inlet. Spotlessly clean. Nice hot & cold breakfast with real china and silverware. eggs, a meat, biscuits, cereal, fruit, etc. Very private with 1 road in & 1 road out. All activities... More

Nice water front room; large and somewhat renovated. Very clean and comfortable. Delicious breakfast.. Osprey nest out the back door; osprey in it into August, so we missed them. Staff is mainly East European young people; very bright and friendly, and good English. Negatives: Hard to find, and very dangerous exit.

Thank you for your great review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit with us. Our exit road is one way and meanders through the woods so I'm not certain what would be dangerous unless you encountered someone going the wrong way! Hopefully, when you return, you'll be able to enjoy the Osprey right off of your water... More

We stayed in overlook room 202 at the top of the resort. We had beautiful views off of our deck. The room itself is more like a very small cabin with an eat in kitchen, living room, bathroom and seperate bedroom. The bedroom was very spacious which we appreciated because our son was sleeping in there with us. The resort... More

I would HIGHLY recommend the Ocean Gate Resort to anyone! My Godmother and I went up for 3 nights 4 days. I am a professional photographer so the view was breath-taking from our balcony! Pricing for an October stay couldn't have been better. Accommodations couldn't have been better if we were in a 5 star. I wasn't sure what to... More

We stayed in the the building down by the water...great view but that was about it. Room needed updating, sheets were terrible, green indoor outdoor carpet on the small balcony, took about 15 minutes to get hot water...the brown carpet in the room looked like it had been there since the 1970's....I would say the staff was lovely and the... Thank you for your comments about your recent visit with us. I'm glad that you found our staff to be friendly and accommodating and that you enjoyed our spectacular view and location. The rooms in the Waterfront building have actually been recently renovated so I'm at a loss as to your disappointments in that regard. In fact, all new premium... More

We booked this resort as part of our honeymoon road trip around the east coast and couldn't have been happier. The views from our room were incredible and we took so many pictures. The staff were really friendly and courteous and the resort was immaculate. The breakfast was typical American fair with sausage, eggs and all the bread based products... More

This is a wonderful place to stay for a Maine experience-local lobster boats pass by in the morning-lots of birds and just the feeling of being near the sea. The bed was sooo comfortable and the morning brunch was full of anything you could want for breakfast. Definitely going to return.
