A clean, warm, comfortable twin room. The food was excellent, well cooked and plentiful. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The log fire in the bar area was a big plus, given the foul weather conditions at the time. The coffee and biscuits provided in the aftdrnoon were much appreciated Altogether a hugely enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for a New Year coach trip from 30th December until 2nd January. First impressions are of a grand building set in outstanding scenery then you go inside. Badly chipped paintwork, grimy carpets and an air of well past its sell buy date. The best and probably the only good thing about the hotel is the staff. They... More

I have seen some sights, I have stayed in some bizarre places, and I am unlikely to find a venue such as this again. As we walked into reception, the music coming from the "ballroom" transported me back to the deepest darkest 1970s, Bontempi organ days. We must have been put in the part of the hotel yet to be... Stayed here the other weekend as part of a family reunion. The hotel is situated in the countryside with some amazing views but transport is a must if you want to get around. Our check-in experience was something to be desired, maybe because we all had the same surname, lol. Our room was a corner one with a double and... More

Overall we had a very pleasant four night "Turkey and Tinsel" stay at this hotel which is a mixture of good and not so good features. Most areas were clean, well decorated and warm whilst others were cold and in need of redecoration (some of which was in progress). Our room had ample space and storage facilities and tea making... Glorious scenery the spa hotel is set in wondrous grounds. A grand structured hotel well maintained and very clean. We were on a church day out and they presented us with a very ample meal well served. On a dull cloudy day it would be a long day out.

I am a wheelchair user and my Labrador is currently undergoing assessment to become my assistance dog. This means two years of hard work for the both of us to ensure we are extremely well bonded. In that time we have never been apart but I was faced with a dilemma- go away with my best friend for first time... More

This hotel is situated a bit of a drive from Carlisle, however it is worth the extra miles. Staff were amazing, chatty, engaging and overall lovely. It felt like we were walking into a scene from the Love Boat or something, the ball room was open, there were couple dancing and smiling, bingo in the evening! I loved every moment... More

Rooms were good, beds comfortable. Corner room was excellent, spacious and superb views. Breakfast was adequate, nothing special. The biggest let down was the staff, the only member of staff that smiled or even seemed pleased to see us was the maid when cleaning the rooms. One of the breakfast staff smiled at us on the last day, but it... More
