We stayed four nights at Claxton Hall Cottage where Carol took good care of us. Bedroom with four poster bed, very spacious and comfortable. Good freshly cooked breakfast with varied choice. Easy access to York by bus. Carol was very helpful with information about the area and there were many leaflets on places of interest available in reception. She welcomed... More

As you can guess, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owner, Carol, welcomed us with tea and homemade cake on arrival. Our 4 poster bedroom was delightful, spacious and immaculately clean. Beautifully furnished throughout. Breakfast was substantial and kept us going all day. Our table by the window let us watch two hares racing around our car and the gardens.... More

Can't recommend this B&B highly enough! Let's start by saying that staying at Claxton Hall Cottage was a great experience - in terms of comfort, character and service. The cottage is set among trees and shrubs off a private road. It is covered with trailing plants, so is visually very pleasing. Although the property is conveniently close to a major... More

What a wonderful place! The rooms are beautifully and thoughtfully furnished, the beds comfortable and the breakfast sets you up for the day. On arrival we were welcomed with tea and cake, freshly made. A relaxing start to a busy weekend. We booked the entire B and B as a base to prepare for our daughter Kate's marriage to James... More

We recently stayed from Thursday 17th April 2014 to Monday 21st April 2014 to sight see around York and honestly Claxton Hall Cottage B&B is one of the BEST B&B's we have ever stayed in. Carol welcomes you with tea and cake which is very welcome after a long drive for us to get to York. We had booked a... More

Unfortunately we only stayed for one night but what a pleasure it was. This excellent b&b is within easy reach of York and even easier reach of Yorks first class park and ride. The accommodation is exceptionally clean throughout, very comfortably furnished with a very pleasant and cosy breakfast room where the breakfast was excellent. We received tea and cake... More

Loved our stay. Located in a room over looking the garden. Four poster bed. Host was welcoming. Breakfast was perfect. Caters for veggies. Good insight into places to visit and where to park, which was useful local information. Thanks for our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed a two night stay while visiting York. Very relaxing. Mrs Brough has the gift of being friendly, welcoming, relaxed and hospitable, without being in anyway intrusive. Room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast excellent, and not served too early! Always a bonus when a B&B does not treat guests like troublesome children to be issued with petty instructions... We have stayed here since 2003 and have always found Carol to be a fantastic hostess, our daughter, aged 12, can't wait to go here every single year, we have already booked for 2014! Regarding the 2 recent reviews that slated it, all I can say is they need to get a life, how dare they expect their wedding party... More
